There are two types of inkjet printable CD/DVDs available, Full-face ones - where you can print right upto the hole at the centre of the disc, and the other is the one where you can print upto the 'ring' in the middle - not full face.

What I need to know is can all printers (especially Canon, specifically PIXMA iP3000) that can print onto CD/DVDs print on both types? I've seen pictures of many of these printers printing onto the NON-Full face CD/DVDs but what about the Full-face CD/DVDs? There are quite a few of these discs about so I'd be surprised if these printers (especially Canon) can't do this.

Any info?

Thanks.

Don't know about the Canon but the Epson R200 and R300 will work with both.

What do you mean by works with both Mort81? Your printer CAN print ALL the way to the centre hole of Full-face CD/DVDs, and ALSO on CD/DVDs that are NOT Full Face? There's an option of the software you use to choose which type you are using?

Also, please let me know here if you try either/both types Movies27

The software that comes with the printer allows you to adjust the size
for either type. You can use hub and non hub prinable disc.

Thank you Paiger651.
Have you got a Canon PIXMA iP3000, 4000 or 5000 printer Paiger651?

Thanks everyone for the term 'hub', now I know what to call them without having to type a slightly longer explanation of what I mean - full face printables, or printables with a hub.

Yes I have the epson R200 and the canon IP3000.
My canon is the us model that does not have the
disc printing option but the eropean model does
and it comes with software that alows you to adjust
the hub size also.

hope that helps..................

Is the software easy to use?
I've got pictures which are already CD-shaped like the pictures on DVD.

Is it hard to adjust to fit a round, CD-shaped picture onto a DVD using the software that comes with the Canon iP3000?

As an owner of both an Epson R300 and a Canon Pixma 4000, I can assure you that all the Canon pixma series print on any diameter disc be it full face or standard.

The canon blows the epson apart for speedy printing and quality.
The only drawback is the CD printable Canons are not available widely in the US.

7seven...to change Canon pixma to hub printing...

Click on paper icon thingy with tiny hand, below POSITION.

in paper selection page click new.

change outer circle size to 118mm and inner circle size to 18mm..then click ok..

if your medel is not in metric convert those sizes to imperial.

hope this doesn`t seem to confusing.

Thank you guys, you are the kind of people these forums were designed for!

I've come across a moderator in another thread who is far from helpful. I wanted help with my DVD Writer and Media.

Also s/he has so many misconceptions about DVD media, Writers and players and is sharing this wrong information with people too. This is not what my problem with him/her was though, just the attitude, etc. Although I've stated the correct info today, wonder how he/she'll take that! I'm very surprised that this person is a moderator, Flip something is the username, maybe you've come across this person. I'm sure it's a person who very young and thinks they know what they are talking about.

Sorry, just venting. People like you guys should be moderators. Thanks for all the help, decided to go for the iP4000 - extra black ink tank as opposed to the iP3000 which is is used for the colour printing. Normally as some may know, the black isn't mixed with colours so it has 1 black for text, 1 black, 1 yellow, 1 magenta, 1 cyan = 5 tanks. more efficient. Slightly faster printing than the iP3000 but for £20 extra I'd rather go for the iP4000 because of the extra black means less cyan, yellow and magenta is used to produce dark colours so save money in the long run. £85.

Thanks again everyone!
