Remove all discs from drives.

Open DVD Decrypter.

From the 'Mode' menu, select 'ISO' -> 'Read'.

Put DVD-9 disc in drive.

Take note of the 'Destination' file name.

Click the big 'Decrypt' button.

Take the DVD-9 disc out of the drive.

From the 'Mode' menu, select 'ISO' -> 'Write'.

Put a blank double layer disc in your DVD Writer.

Click the little folder icon - 'Browse for source file' - and select the MDS file created for you as part of the steps above.

Click the big 'Write' button.

Finished!

Note: If your drive supports booktype / bit setting, remember to tell it to burn DVD+R DL discs as DVDROM. This will make them more compatible with players. The booktype / bit setting utility is accessed by clicking on the little 'book' icon when in ISO Write mode.

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

hi

ok, - and + are 2 types of media formats in dvdrs and dual layer discs, now the - format is more compatible for standalone dvd players to read the dvdr ok + is less compatible...

booktype trys to change the + (less comaptible) to - (more compaible) you can use DVD Decrypter for this on burning!

the balance between the, burner / media / players is part the process of getting a good burn to play ok! you cant just throw any old dvdr in your drive burn it and it will work. (welcome to dvdr world - you are about to venture on the wild side)...

to put 2 dvd5 (which could be 9 gig each disc!!! so 18gig total) onto 1 dual layer i would use DVD Shrink! but set it for dvd DL in settings first!

also when loading and dragging across each film in DVD Shrink (from right to left) you will loose menus / extras, so you will have 2 films (main movie only) which when played will play one after the other, which is ok you can use remote control to get to second film first i spose?

but if you do got 2 film route, you may want to get into making simple menus of your own? for this i use TMPGEnc dvd author

hope this helps abit? thx....

thanx ...Rotary...what a wonderful explanation...so what you're saying is go to "Lite-ON" and select the type that i have yes???? and that's it regarding book-type??

Now....you mentioned "to put 2 dvd5 (which could be 9 gig each disc!!! so 18gig total) onto 1 dual layer"...AND I DID EXACTLY WHAT YOU SHOWED ME!!...however the burn then STOPS!! with DVD DECRYPTER...with an error message "I/O ERROR"....i would like to send the entire message to you...but please tell me how i can....thanks again for you help....it didn't do the lite-on change...perhaps that's why???...i've wasted 2 DVD DL disks....i'm 73 years old and on a budget...i can't waste many more DVD DLs....many thanx

hi there

@ hursty had to dump the all-in-one codecs! didnt carry quicktime / realmedia and others! avi2dvd wouldnt run on CCE without YV12 (quicktime) for some reason? testing again now! seems to be running ok so far?

so uninstalled every codec on my pc! and installed K-LITE MEGA CODEC PACK (it has every codec going! aswell as FFDSHOW and others...)

yes, this is for + media only!!! but i have never gone this route and only know of it, as hursty says we all use dvdr5 size for price!

and to note if it did complete ok? would your dvd standalone player be able to read dual layer? dvd-r5 as said are more compatible! + may need the booktype change!!!

not vhanging the booktype shouldnt effect the burning of the discs! only the play back after.

also errors you get with I/O usually means the app dvd decrypter doesnt like the the disc used! (i did read on another site that if you eject cd tray and close they got past this error? not tryed it though?) these errors are due to dual layers being very picky with apps and media combinations, dual layers are new on the scene relatively speaking, so expect it to be very hit and miss!!!! with I/O i would say get another brand of media (and check ID codes!) as media can have same name but be different dye types on disc! use dvd identifier to get media code from your discs!

to paste errors copy it from the log window in dvd decrypter then paste here!

to add a picture to this site use this URL linking code tag!

[*img*]http://www.theurl.com/picture.jpg[*/*img*]

NOTE! need to upload to a holding website (your picture) on the internet then use the URL link between the code tags above

REMOVE THE 5 * SO THE LINK WILL BE ACTIVE! and close the gaps up!!!

testing thread is here!

Hi tomlomeo:

As a retired surveyor it's nice to meet someone in an adjacent age group.
Firstly I have to agree with Hursty, using DVDshrink and the deep analysis option,
I've successfully copied the extended edition of The Lord Of The Rings.. Return Of The King, and the original 1954 black and white Seven Samurai onto single good quality 4.3 discs' without any noticable loss in picture quality.

See Scubapetes guides http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/tutorial007.html

once you become familiar with these guides; the project you're proposing will become less daunting, indeed if you can put one DVD9 onto a 20p 4.3 disc, putting two of these onto a dual/layer disc should be a piece of cake. :)

I see Rotary has given you the link to the test thread however Scubapete and Fasfrank share the same great site here's franks guides, also linked in the test thread, how to insert sigatures.

http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/Afterdawn%20Guide.html

good luck and happy burning

gringle.

Oh yes, what is a deep analysis option in DVD Shrink and how do i get there/??

hi

URL = www.mysite.com/my-picture.jpg

its the address for websites or picture links

you need to put this address between the 2 code tags!!

[*img*]xxxxxxxxxxxxx URL = Web adreess here xxxxxxxxxxxxx[*/*img*] -- This will show a picture. (remove 5 *'s and close gaps up! and upload your picture to a holding site)

deep analysis can be seen when you open / load dvd shrink! it says analysis...

use it to do a 2nd pass over the dvd files for better quailty on big dvd's bu its a trade off between time span to encode, it will take longer...

you need to find a website that will hold pictures for you? i dont know any off hand as i have my own site for this!

then when its loaded to that site it will give you the url link, so you can put it between those tags i showed you...

the stars * are there so you can see the text used, if i didnt put the stars there you would see a box like in your previous post...

hi there

no, you need to upload your picture from your computer to a website that will hold / house the file forever...

once its uploaded to a website the url will be shown, which you then copy and paste between those tags for this site...

there are site on the net for this, you may have to do a search in google or ask jeeves search engine...

Not a problem tomolmeo:

An URL is just an email address, nothing more, nothing less.

Firstly, and it seems you have alread, have a picture or animation downloaded on your PC.

Secondly go to this site http://reg.imageshack.us/register.php
and register.
Click on the frog, browse for your picture and insert it.

They will give you a number of URLs right click the top one Ctrl C to copy.

com back here to AfterDawn, and select the my account tag top right of this page, choose the 'edit my personal information' option, scroll down find your signature area.
if it's blank Ctrl V paste the URL into it.

and you should have something like this

Now all you have to do is change the [IMG] to to lower case including the slash, press save changes and your picture will be in your signature.
many thanks to Fasfrank

The only other help I can give you is start off on DVD5 follow scubapetes guides and you'll be burning in notime.

regards gringle.

hi

with a website they make it easier to grab / take your picture from your hard drive, doing it there and then...

with what i have you need an uploading software and setup the upload information yourself, password user acounts etc, abit dfficult if never done before.

but i grab free accounts at wanadoo for email and internet connections (pay as you go) but never use it, so dont pay anything for connecting to the net, as i use my uausl isp provider to access the account via the FTP uploader. you must reconnect this way every 3 months or it will be closed!
