I've been trying to burn DVDs on MANY different programs, including TMPGEnc DVD Author, CloneDVD2 and most recently Nero Burning Rom 6.6. I used to be able to burn without a problem but now I keep getting write errors and the like. I've decided to post the Nero log from the most recent failed burn attempt.

I don't think it's the discs I use because I use TDK 4x DVD+Rs and that's not that bad of a brand. Also I can burn regular CD-R's fine. Can someone please try and figure out the problem? It would be most appreciated. Thanks!

ah, you got the very latest Nero revision. I nearly d/loaded it today but thought i'd wait a while. There wasn't enough in the changelog that seemed relevant to me. Talking of which i doubt that would give you problems, haven't seen any probs yet. (soz, just typing aloud).

- don't think this is it, as all my own burns show the same thing. However i have read posts where ppl suggest this as being a clue. Can't really see anything wrong from the log so far; it may still be worth investigating the media.

I don't think the media is the problem as I've used 3 different types of media and all seem to be having the same problem. :(

it's just that media is one of the most common cause of DVD hassles. And you've now jinxed it by saying it's not the media. That's what usually means it's the media lol :)

don't know much about the Ricoh Japan, i believe they are good discs but am not sure enough as haven't used them myself. I'm sure someone knowledgable about them will chip in at some point.

Do not get me started on this drive I own one and it resides in a box, after sending it back to mfr once. It burns slowly and does not live up to its specs. It has media recognition problems, and it does not matter if it branded or not, and burns have errors. It is made by BTC and you will find a whole forum dedicated to BTC drives at CDFreaks, you can read up on a number of problems other users are having

Yes it was a 1008 BTC is the mfr of this drive, I/O Magic just repackages it and sells it under there name. If you have Roxio on your system it may be causing conflicts with Nero, they are two programs that do not get along well together.

I got the same problem Line 311 Write error, I have a pioneer A07 drive, I think Nero v6.6.0.13 has done something to aspi or atapi, last time I tried to burn a DVD I got some calibration error, something to do with the laser eye, anyone know what I can do? TIA

well I've discovered that the media I am useing which is 4x will only let me write to it at 2x the same with 8x media which will only let me write to it at 6x and below, ah well, at least I can still burn DVD's

@Googled - that could be down to downrev (out of date) firmware for your dvd burner...

Actualy I think its to do with upgradeing to the latest firmware, which said it improve acuracy for all writeing speeds, but now it only lets me write at slower speeds on 8x and 4x media, So anyone thinking of upgradeing the firmware for a Pioneer A07/107 XLA/B DVD writer to firmwaye v1.21 dont bother, cos you cant downgrade once you update, Pioneer have messed up my drive.

I too have the same problem with my IDE1008 after upgraded to the newest firmware 0060, and I have lost 25 DVDs since the upgrade on trying to make it work, it was fine before that. As matter of fact i was happy with the speed, 4.37GB under 12min at 8X.
Now, without much of choose, I either wait for the next upgrade see if it would fix it, because it can't go back to the old firmware.
Or, get a new dvdrw, not BTC.
I just here to learn.

It was the exact drive you had the BTC1008, although mine is an external, and you are correct the firmware update made problems worse. I really feel that I/O Magic makes subpar products.

I believe I fixed my problem after I read it here:

XP auto set my DVDRW's IDE controller to PIO mode which slow down
the data transfer, and it should be in DMA mode.
So I unistall the controller for the DVDRW and reboot to let XP pick it again.
And I am back to my happy state. (4.37GB under 12min with 8X)
I just here to learn.
