Should there be an 1/8 inch gap on dvd backup games? Could that be why my ps2 version 4 with a magic 3.1 solder mod won't read the dvd format games? All the cd-r backups don't have a gap. I am burning with decrypter, and doing everything like it says, but I can't figure out why my dvd format backups don't work. Any help?

You have posted this before
You also have been told the answer.
Memorex IS NOT GOOD For ps2 backups.
memorex DOES NOT make there own media, they outsource
to many different vendors,All of whom but ONE are terrible.

It is the 'Media Id' which is important when choosing what
media to use for ps2 backups.

Use better media.
Burn at 2x speed.

Movies will play fine but ps2 games are different,
they read more frequently and randomly from the media.

I use Fujifilm 8x +r and/or Verbatim (MCC)

But dont take my word for it look here:

http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

The following list is in preference order.

MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<-----------------VERBATIM MY CHOICE #1
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)<--------------FUJIFILM (made in japan) MY CHOICE #2

LOOK AT MEMOREX WAY AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST.
Try one of the medias above I bet if your doing everything right
your backups will work.

No I haven't asked that before and I am not using memorex now, I have tried imation, memorex, maxell,and sony. The main question is ...Should there be an gap on the disc after I burn it.. Just trying to figure out my problem. I am burning at 1x and 2x.

using DVD Decrypter Start > Mode ISO write do these 2 things.
1)-Right click your dvd-rw drive.
click check for firmware updates.
2)-After updating your firmware, inesrt a GOOD dvd media,
into your burner, In the box on the right says "supported write speeds" These are the speeds on which for THAT MEDIA you can burn,

if you burn at other speeds that arent supported, you will get bad burns
Update your firmware, get some Verbatim +r media.
(with a ver 4 you may have problems with +r media)
And burn at your slowest SUPPORTED SPEED using dvd decrypter.

Didnt mean to give you a hard time,
I hope you get your games working :)

if the gap is the one close to the center of the disc i can assure you all dvd-r media burnt on any burner has that gap. youll notice the gap is there before you write to the disc even.

Jimak is wise, i was burning all my games as 1x. They all seem to skip, lag, and freeze up during movies scenes. Jimak's post really helped out. I updated filmwares, checked out what write speeds my DVD-Rs could actualy support. Did those two SIMPLE things and BOOM! I was getting Prefect back up copies. I think i went through at least 10-12 DVD-Rs before reading Jimak's post.... so be wise like Jiz, and check out your filmware and your DVDs supported write speeds before blowing up and wasting DVDRs. Oh yeah i used RiDataG04, but Verbatim(MCC) works like a charm, even when i was burning at the wrong speeds, Verbatim(MCC) seems to pull through. I give Jiz Two Thumbs Up~^-^ Thanks Man.
