Hey guys new here! I am copying a DVD with 123copy dvd software. I have copied a DVD, but it will only play on my computer in my DVD drive and not on my regular DVD player hooked to my TV? Anybody have any ideas why this is happening.

welcome to AD bellis123

123copy is well past its sale by date, I suggest you download DVDshrink and DVDdecrypter, both from the software link above, they're freeware, and then use these guides.

Thanks for the quick reply! I copied it using DVD Shrink and everything went fine, but it still won't play in my DVD player on my TV. I have a cheap Desay brand DVD player on my TV. Would that have anything to do with it? The backup DVD using DVD Shrink works fine on Windows Media Player?

Thanks

Brent

It maybe the media you're using, the senior members in here continually stress the importance of using good quality media.
try a slower burn speed, and let the forum know what media you're using.

Hello I am using Philips DVD+R 1-8x 4.7gb 120 min
and I am copying at 8x. What is a good media to use that people have the best luck with?

Thanks

Hi again, most folk reckon Tao Yuden along with Verbatem are the best,

I use Ritek ther're cheaper than the above, in the last hundred burns I managed to make one coaster. [my fault] Check out the DVD media forum for good suppliers. I live in the UK so if your stateside that's your best bet.

hi.123 i agree with gringle. i use verbatim and ritek with no probs. but have found from my own experiance that burning at a lower speed i.e. 4x or 2x is usually a better bet.

I am using Philips DVD+R
dvd+r are not recognised on a lot of dvd players, try dvd-r

or,if you have a lot of these disk's,and dont want to waste them,...

if you have Nero, you can try changing the book-type to dvd-rom

but i personally would get some dvd-r,not the plus "+",ones

Thanks for the tip! I will get some DVD-R. I only have a couple +R. My DVD player is a $30 cheapie so maybe it doesn't recognize the +R. When I put the disk in it just says "loading" forever?

Thanks

Well I think I figured out the problem. My cheap DVD player doesn't read DVD-R or DVD+R. I will be getting a new DVD player soon.

Thanks for the help guys!
