V9 Satin Silver PS2 Problems!

Is anyone else with a a v9 ps2 having problems playing back ups that they have made? I am having major problems getting mine to recognise the dvd-r's!

color has no bearing on games. if it doesn't wanna read dvd-rs try dvd+rs

It has read cd-rs that i have made myself but it cant read the dvd-r's that i have made myself although i have got a cracked copy of a ps2 game on dvd-r and it works fine so i don't understand?

i use a silver ps2 (or at least i did until i broke it)

i always used the standard method in DVD Decrypter which goes something like this

1)insert game into dvd drive

2)load DVD Decrypter and select mode>iso read (it may tell you to change the mode when you load it if you havent already done so)

3)choose where you wish to save the image of the file (make sure you have enough space on the drive and that it supports large files)

4)click the large button which has a hard drive icon next to a green triangle next to a dvd icon

5)when that has finished insert a blank dvd

6)select mode>iso write

7)locate the image that you created earlier

*next step can mean the difference between a working game and a coaster*

8)select the 'correct' write speed. now you will find various definitions of the correct write speed for ps2 game backups. most ppl will say that 2X will give you the best results. others will say 4X. i have had success at 8X with a game that didnt work burned at 2X. this could be down to alot of factors (1 of which is me being on net while burning). bottom line is that different drives perform at different speeds

all done!

if done correct you should have a working backup

as for youre question on media

i use datawrite 8x discs which i have had great success with

alot of ppl on here swear by taiyo yuden and verbatim

again i think the combination of writer and media is is unique for each person. if you know some ppl who have blank dvds borrow one and try it or get a small pack of dvd's to try. I know that bigpockets.co.uk do a pack which includes lots of different brands of dvds for exactly this purpose.
