Hi, i just got swap magic 3.6 ok, the problem that i am having is that it wont boot the games. I got these games from someone that my mate refered me to. He had to same games as i have already bought from the shops.
Ok, here is what im doing.
1. Put Swap Magic in (DVD Verison)
2. The screen comes up with the Load Program and Video Mode
3. I select PAL
4. I followed the instructions that came with swap magic and sometimes it says "not a valid ps2 disc" so i thought mmmm ok. try again
5. i put another game into the drive and pressed Load Program.
6. It then seemed like it was working because the screen went black and i thought it was going to load, but it doesnt it will stay on this black screen for ages i had waited bout 10 minutes for the game to appear, but no luck.
What am i supposed to do, + how would i find out if the game i am inserting is PAL or NTSC and one more question, whats the difference between "Normal" in video mode to the others (PAL and NTSC)
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

You need some kind of 'tool' to open the tray without pressing eject,
for the swapmagic discs to work.

Well, normally the games you buy will pretty much correspond with your location. For example, if you're in the US, then you'll use NTSC, if your in Europe you'd use PAL. Either way, it should say on the disc and the box which it is.
For the most part, just use 'Normal' video mode. This would be for playing a PAL game on a PAL tv, or NTSC game on an NTSC tv. But if you're trying to play a PAL game on an NTSC tv, you will need to use the 'PAL' video mode and visa versa.

Hi, thanks for the replies.. But i think i mite be misleading you.. the problem is that i insert swap magic (dvd version), use the slide tool and take swap magic out then when it says "load Program" I put the backup in. Following the instructions i use the tool again.. So now i press X on the controller it will just go to a black screen.. out of about 8 games i have tried and tried and only Mortal Kombat : Deception or summin and The incredibles worked.. and even with them 2 they run Very slow.. the actual gameplay is sometimes/usually ok but it takes a very long time to load stuff.
Also sorry for going on, but the mortal combat game has sound at the beginning then when i choose a mission to play it will stop..
One more thing, Midnight Club 3 - DUB edition when loaded everything e.g. using swap magic and pressing X, it will takes me back to the browser screen on the ps2. Any Ideas?
Someone said this is because i have an old playstation??
Thank You! :)

Your media is your problem.
Cheap media will not work on the ps2.
http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
The following list is in preference order.
MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<-----------------VERBATIM MY CHOICE #1
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)<--------------FUJIFILM (made in japan) MY CHOICE #2
Save the cheap media for MOVIES and get quality media.
Also burn at the slowest "supported speed" using dvd decrypter.
Start dvd decrypter right click your rw drive.
First check for firmware updates.
After that is complete.
Put a quality blank media into your drive.
Goto mode iso write (using dvd decrypter).
IN THE BOX ON THE RIGHT YOU WILL SEE "SUPPORTED WRITE SPEEDS".
These are the speeds that you can Correctly burn.
(Go with the SLOWEST SUPPORTED SPEED)
Use Quality Media I use
Verbatim dvd+r
***** BURN AT NO MORE THAN 2X****** <-----------(IMPORTANT)
TURN OFF ANY BACKGROUND APPLICATIONS
1. Take the ps2 game put it in the dvd rom or dvd burner, your choice.
2. open the dvd decryptor program then go to to tool bar and hit MODE>ISO>READ. Then choose the correct dvd drive that the game is in as the "source". Also choose where you want the files to be stored on the pc hdd. THEN CLICK DECRYPT , or the huge graphical picture at the bottom of the program which makes it run. The game is now copying to your HDD. Take the game out when finished (it might take a while).
3. Go to the same tab in dvd decryptor and choose MODE>ISO>WRITE. This will then let you look for the files you just created in step 2. Select the file that you just created. (There is only 2 files creadted so pick the .mds) (The smaller file)Then click WRITE, make sure there is blank DVD in the drive.

hey before you go blow a wad on media, make sure you have cleaned your laser lens.and the best way to see if your copies are bad is to find someone else with a ps2 and use your swap magic and slide card on their ps2 to try your games on.ive had games that didnt work too well on my ps2 and then tried them on someone elses and they worked perfect.ive dropped my ps2 before, ripped out the reset ribbion(by mistake),and have taken it apart numerous times so it has had some abuse done to it.
