Supermedia Store has a special on a combo: Buy 100 pk. Verbatim 8X and you get a 100pk. of Prodisc 8X free, running on their main page right now.
Although I've never personally used Verbatim DVDs I know most folks think they're pretty good quality. I have no clue about the quality of the Prodisc media. So I don't know whether it's worth it for the $45 price for both.
If anyone of you more experienced people can enlighten me on this question, I'd appreciate it.

Though i haven't used them personally. I don't know if $45 is good as i'm in ripoff Britain :)

Hi there,

If you burn those ProDisc at the lowest speed (2x) you should be ok.

I'm now a regular here, and I know next time to buy Taiyo Yuden.

But at home, we still have 4 different brands of media.

Matsushita (Elto Cheaper ones)
OEM no brand name (My 1st media I ever bought, no names 2x DVD-R)
E3Works
and Ridata (RitekG04)

They are all burned at 2x, they all play and I have 0 problems with them.

So slow burning is the secret !

It really all depends on your burner. I have some prodisc dvd+r hub printables code PRODISC R03 that I got just to try and although my litey hates them (terrible PI,PIF spikes) my benq burns them just fine. No freezing or pixelating on playback. Although my benq will burn these at 12x I burn them at 4x and booktype them dvd-rom.

Have Pioneer DRV 108 , I dropped Ritek and use this media because I got the same result but Prodisc price is cheaper. I used mostly Prodisc -R 8X hub inkjet prinatble media. I always burn at 8X (even I can burn 12X, but I burn at 8X). I used more than 500 disc sofar, noproblemo.
And this media works fine on Epson R-200 too.

See that's the reason for this thread. I keep getting such varying feedback on Prodisc, and don't want to waste money while trying to save it.
I've been really pleased with the TY's. It just seems like a good buy and I'm going to need some blanks soon.
More feedback please......

Just buy the TY and save yourself the trouble down the road you will probably have with he prodisc ive used the prodisc and DONT like them i have some a couple months old and there full of read errors when i try to make copies of them . i bet the TY will be on sale next weekend since its a holiday and anyway you can get them EVERYDAY on supermedia store or meritline for about 32 bucks a 100 so SAVE the 12 bucks and put that into more TY THEN you know for SURE you have GREAT quality media.

I use Datawrite classic grey 8x, which have ProDisc F01 dye. Ive used them for about a year for all my backups & had no problems at all at 2x & 4x, with a few coasters burnt at 8x.

I agree with what everyone says about compatability with your drives when choosing blank discs though... my pioneer 108 likes ProDisc dye, so does my sony 700A, but i have an external emprex 8x burner which wont recognise prodisc at all..

I also use a Pioneer 108, and almost exclusively use -R 8x Prodiscs. They're pretty cheap, and seem to work great. I burn them at 12x, and only usually coaster about 1%. I can burn them at 16x, but then I coaster 25% or so...

A little off topic, has anyone tried the Prodisc 16x on a 108? Any good results?
