Ok, wow. I'm really confused. I have the New PS2, the skinny one. I have a few games that I would like to copy. I have DVD Decrypter and I copied the games onto my Hard drive. What type of DVD should I use? Also, do I need a mod-chip? If not, how would I patch the games? Lastly, what other programs would I need?

PS2 games are actually pressed DVD/CD discs, they are not burned. PS2 games use the Burst Cutting Area (BCA) of the disc to identify themselves to the PS2 unit. The BCA is not part of a disc that you can burn on, it is only replicated on pressed discs.

So, the only way to play backups is to get boot-discs or a mod-chip.

Use Quality Media I use
Verbatim dvd+r

***** BURN AT NO MORE THAN 2X****** <-----------(IMPORTANT)
TURN OFF ANY BACKGROUND APPLICATIONS

http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

The following list is in preference order.

MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<-----------------VERBATIM MY CHOICE #1
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)<--------------FUJIFILM (made in japan) MY CHOICE #2

I read online that you can use Magic Gate to load it too. Isn't Magic Gate the memory card?

the new swap magic 3.6 will Boot off the memory card.

But like I said before you will need swap magic
(Boot-discs) or a modchip.

Do you think we would all be buying them if it were not needed?

Your gonna have to shell out a little bit of $$$$$$.

you will also need a way to make your ps2 think that its closed. SO when you buy the swap magic 3.6 make sure you also get the slim ps2 parts to "trick" the ps2

Ive got this program that came with my computer, its called "recordnow" its fuckin easy as hell to copy ps2 games, all you have to do is put your ps2 disc in your drive, click on "create/saveimage", then when its finished, insert a blank dvd and click "burn image", its that easy, no codes no bullshit, just two steps, but ive got the "matrix infinity" mod chip installed in my console, they say it has no effect on your ps2 but..they lied cause my ps2 has heaps of cliches now, like it stops and frezzes and the reset/eject buttons dont respond, but i guess thats the risk you take when getting a modchip installed....next time i will get the swap magic, lol

It's not your modchip that is the problem, it is the person who installed it. If they do a crappy job then you end up with a crappy system. Where did you get it installed?
I have a premodded system from XModd.com and it works great. It has a DMS4 Pro chip, Summone laser fix and ToxicOS on it. Have had it for 5 months with no problems at all.

With the new 'slim' pstwo,
You will need a 'slim tool' or 'ghost switch'.

Ok...so I have a Slim PS2. I would need to keep the disk drive open, correct. What would I be able to use for that. Also, is there anything else I can use besides Swap Magic that will play copied games?
