Hello . I tried backing up a dvd as well as just putting regular data on a dvd and it wont work. I am using the lastest version of Nero and I also tried using DVD Decrypter to burn as well but it wont. Im guessing its the dvds. I am using Maxell 8x dvd+r. Below is the log, if anyone can help me understand the log or point out what hte problem is? Thanks.

- Your firmware is dated roughly Dec 2004, but i don't know the in's and out's of Benq drives to say whether it's too old or not.

Power Calibration is controlled by the recorder.
Before any write operation, all recorders must do a 15 step power test to determine the optimum power for writing to the CD; this is called "Optimum Power Calibration"(OPC). During the write, it continues to do this test to get the best write throughout the whole CD; this is called "Running Optimum Power Calibration" (ROPC).
This whole process is controlled by the recorder, though initiated by programs such as Nero. There is an area on the inner part of the CD for the test and test data info to be stored. You can use this area up to 999 times.
If you receive the "Power calibration error" or "Power calibration area is (amost) full" error message, the cause will be either poor media, poor power, or a defective recorder.

Sorry, Guys. I am new to this. I AM using some Teon 8X -R that I got for free. Do you think that's the prob? I was going to "practice" with them. I have TY arriving tomorrow from SuperMediaStore. I am using 1 Click DVD Copy w/ Copy to DVD and trying to burn a movie from my HD that I ripped with ! Click and DVD43. Burner is Pioneer DVR-109 (downloaded latest firmware yesterday). Thanks for any advice and sorry about the "unabridged" log!!!

@teflonmyk - no you're right, i took it for granted that you might know which bits to chop out of the log; i was looking at a couple more big logfiles at the same time as yours so it looks like i mixed up my reply with another person's logfiles which was obvious in which bits could be chopped for posting.
Anyway, i'm new to that kind of logfile too, i just scanned thru and looked for generic things that looked like likely causes for you problem. Trouble is with you using those CMC discs for testing is that (according to my interpretation of your logfile anyway) that the only thing i can see wrong is actually the media. You say firmware's done so hopefully someone else will be of more help. The only other thing might be packet writing software (Rotary saw references to you having packet writing software installed; the only product like that, that i can think of, is 'InCd')

What program are you using to copy? I too see reference to packet writing software several times

also reference to 1ClickDVDCopy and VSO CopytoCD. In reviewing my logfiles from VSO CopytoDVD the only time I have CopytoCD exe is if I am copying directly from the DVD or CD not from a file. Your log does not show your image file being openned. When you open CopytoDVD you either use Data to copy and iso from your hardrive or Movie and Pictures to copy VTS file from your hardrive. At least that has been my experience with the program. I use CopytoDVD in conjunction with DVDShrink, you have the option of burning iso to CopytoDVD instead of Nero or Decrypter it is one program that integrates directly with Shrink.

I used 1 Click DVD Copy to copy movie to HD. (I copied a couple of movies to HD before my burner arrived.) I will update that downloaded firmware from the CD when I get home. (My TY's should be here today and I can turn these Teon's into a light show! Have any of you ever tried putting a disc in the microwave for 5 seconds? It's a laser show! LOL) Should I be selecting "Data" in Copy to DVD instead of "Movies & Pictures" to burn the movie from my HD? There are no ISO files... Anyway; thanks for all the advice and time. I will let you know how it goes when I get home from work...

I bought this program about three weeks ago because I like VSO burning engine better than Decrypter, and because it integrates with Shrink, I am still playing with the program because of the settings, probably the other members have a better read on the program than I do. Probably is media, it keeps screaming about a CD.

first off this error seems wierd? ok done some reading and found 2 people with same errors!

I will try all of the above this evening... My USB is fine. I've even tried with and without the hub (the HD the movies are on is external as well) and with diff cables. I am going to get an RW Verbatim disc today (I've gone through 20 cheapie and TY discs so far!) As far as doing a multisession disc, I don't know... I am just trying to burn the IFO, VSO, and VUB files that are in the VIDEO_TS folder. Also, I notice that at the bottom of the Copy to DVD screen when I get ready to burn, I choose the drive to use, but DVD5 goes back to DVD9 when I choose the write speed, and the speed goes back to MAX when I change that back to DVD5. (If someone can let me know which settings that I should have selected in Copy to DVD that may be helpful.) I am just truly at a loss right now. You guys are more help than 1 Click tech support. Thanks for helping me through this. Hopefully, I can get some success soon!!

As Rotary states this looks like multisession. Do you have another file you can try, rip another movie with DVD Shrink and then use CopytoDVD to see if it is the program, drive or the file. Also, as stated you can try uninstalling and re-installing it may be something that that CopytoDVD is not picking up on.

FYI... When I select VIDEO_TS (left pane under Audio folder) folder, all of the IFO, VOB, and VUB files are in the right pane. Is this correct?

You could try unchecking the create/continue multisession, with a regular disk, not a rewritable and see if this makes any difference, sorry to ask you to make another coaster but give it a try.
