Can't burn at 8x

Hi. I just bought the TY 8x DVD-R. when i try to burn it using nero, the max speed is only 4x . Is there any way I can burn it at 8x speed? btw I'm using sony external dvd rw dru-530a.

looks to me like that drive can only burn -R at 4x, but will do +R at 8x.

Isint there a firmware update that enhances the drive burning speed? they always do firmware updates that enchances drive burning speeds

It would probably have to be flashed with some modified (hacked) f/w to burn dvd-r at 8x.

Firmware 2.c allows 8X burning with -Rs. 2.g is latest version available.
