First of all, i am using the dvd shrink 3.2.0.15 with the anydvd 5.1.2.1 in the background. It successfully rips the movie onto my hard drive in a folder that i have assigned to it. So then when i use the dvd decrypter 3.5.4.0 version to burn the movie onto a dvd+r it seems to go ok but then about like 40% into going it brings up this message: Dvd decrypter failed to read from file A_walk_in_the_clouds.iso reason: Data error (Cyclic redundancy check.) Can somebody help me with this b/c i want to make backups of my movies.. I never had this problem b4 b/c i have made a copy b4 but this time not sure why its doing this now? Any suggestions? Please help!!!

thx...

If you get the CRC error when ripping to your HD it is usually a dirty, damaged or defective original. If you get the CRC error while burning back as in your case, it is usually from cheap or poor quality blank media. What brand blanks are you using?? Usually switching to one of the better grade A blank media solves the CRC problem while burning.

k i was using dynex 8x dvd+r made in taiwan & they seemed to working fine for about 20 of them. Then all of a sudden when i was using the decrypter it gave me that message into like burning the movie onto it. So then i switched to verbatim 16x dvd+r and same problem. So i am thinking that maybe it's the decrypter.. not sure? any help would be appreciated... thx..

k now i know for sure it's not the dvd+r's b/c i just backed up a copy of "are we there yet" in my HD and it works gr8. However, had the movie "aviator" in my HD and when i was decrypting it was going nicely but at like 24% it said "OH NO" so didn't work. i am thinking it's the movie. ANYBODY KNOW?

The problem with the cheaper/poor quality blank media is that you can have good and bad discs out of the same batch. When I first started burning dvd a while back, I had a 25 pack of media that was junk but didn't know there were good and bad types out there. Out of that 25 pack only 15 actually burned right. I kept thinking I was doing something wrong. I happened onto this site and learned to use the best quality media I could find. I haven't had a coaster in over a year now. Just because you got 1 good burn doesn't make the media good. The fact that I never even heard of that brand would make me think twice about using it.

The best are supposed to be TY (Taiyo Yuden) discs and are slightly higher in price but not much. I use only grade A Ritek -R blanks which seem to be compatible with all the players I run them through. Verbatum is anothe good brand. It is trial and error at times to see what your burner and players like the best. TY and Ritek usually have to be ordered since you don't find them is stores to often. You can find Verbatum in most stores. Check out the DVD-R Media forum for more information on blanks.
