I have no solder mod chip that I just installed in my V4. I also purchased GameShark brand new so it is the newest version 5.1. I am having trouble playing my backups I will break the process down:
1. Start gameshark
2. At the menu screen eject disc and put in real ps2 dvd
3. press eject button to close
4. Wait 30 seconds (I usually wait until I move the cursor up and down again)
5. Then I push X to start game- and this is where I get stuck!!!

It never asks me to change disc and the game certainly never loads (and it's a real one at this point!) It is just like the gameshark menu freezes. Somebody please help me!!

Most likely you need a loader in-between to refresh the toc.
this is true with swap magic, it may hold true with the ez-chip also.

With some no-solder chips you need a boot disc,
or an exploit to load backups.
That why i was wondering if you needed swap magic,

Unless you no-solder mod is DIRCT BOOT then if thats the case something
is definatly wrong.

Yeah mine says to use either action replay or gameshark....I bought gameshark and I am following the operating insrtuctions posted on their site but it's not working

from what I have heard it has to be the old VER2 ganeshark.
I would consider getting the swapmagic discs.

oh man that's what I figured, I would just hate to get swap magic and have that not work either, I mean the whole reason I got gameshark was to play these backups!! Oh well anyone else have any ideas?

I use swap magic 3.3 with a flip-top and NO CHIP.
I dont have any Mod istalled just a flip-top kit.
Swap magic works I assure you of that.

I am using Swap Magic 3.6 on my PSTwo Slim and so far I have backedup Killzone, Monster Hunter, Grand Theft Auto: SA, Midnight Club 3: DE, and Armored Core Nexus and all games run flawlessly. Swap Magic does work and you don't have to void your warranty.

yeah swap magic works really well

i started with the slide card, got bored of it, and went for a fliptop

much easier than installing a mod chip
