hi all,
struggling getting motogp4 to work! I first downloaded the beta version which i then burnt to a datawrite titanium disc (CMC MAG. AE1) it played for a bit then froze! Then i downloaded the full version which i burnt to the same disc (thinking prob might have been in beta version) but when it gets to the main menu the laser just rattles back and too and the game will not load. I then proceeded to buy some better media verbatim (MCC 03RG20) but the laser still freaked out and game wont load. I then tried burning with alcohol 120 instead of dvdecrypter but still the same effect. As i write this i am just in the process of burning beta version again with alcohol 120 because that version did load for a while. If any help i burnt ttsuperbikes.iso with dvdecrypter on to tdk (TTH01) which has worked no probs. Just tried full version again on verbatim (tyg02) but still the game lets me load it until it gets to main menu then it sounds like the laser is rattling about but it still lets me choose a bike then a track but will not load??????

try cleaning your ps2 lens.people forget the importance of maintaining their ps2.before you go spend alot of dough on media you have to make sure there is nothing wrong with your ps2.i found out that most of the games that ran choppy on my ps2 worked perfect on other ps2.what kind of mod are you using?if you have swap magic you could use someone elses ps2 to try your games on.

Save the cheap media for MOVIES and get quality media.
Also burn at the slowest "supported speed" using DVD Decrypter.

Start DVD Decrypter right click your rw drive.
First check for firmware updates.
After that is complete.
Put a quality blank media into your drive.
Not that memorex MCC crap Use the Verbatim MCC
Goto mode iso write (using dvd decrypter).
IN THE BOX ON THE RIGHT YOU WILL SEE "SUPPORTED WRITE SPEEDS".
These are the speeds that you can Correctly burn (USING THE MEDIA THAT IS INERTED.)
It will vary from one media maufacturer to another.
(Go with the SLOWEST SUPPORTED SPEED)

the best media is determined by your dvd writer.writers seem to favor certain brands(check with people who have the same writer as you and see what brand works best for them).you already used verbs and they didnt do you any good and the fact you used several different brands suggest your ps2 lens needs cleaning.

the best method is with alcohol and a cotton swab.alcohol drys fast so it doesnt leave moisture in your lens.it also takes off caked on dirt and scuff marks while cleaner discs pretty much are good for routine cleaning.

Real easy way to tell is play An original game,
If the original plays fine your laser wont be ditry,
It was your media/burn speed like I told you,
I would try an original game before you go into cleaning the lens.

thats not true.my ps2 played dvd original games fine, but couldnt play the cd games or dvdrs.i cleaned the lens(thats all) and everything now works fine.

@jimmy7386
if you need any instructions on how to clean the lens with alcohol let me know.remember if you have to take off your cover, not to yank the reset ribbon off(it is connected to the cover and ps2).and dont soak the swab just dampen it(squeeze excess out of swab).if you got a cleaner disc you might want to give that a go first(your lens might not be that dirty).but there is little risk in using alcohol besides yanking the reset ribbon.if you have a slim or flip top you dont have to take off the cover.
