WMP/RealOne crashes while playing mpeg/avi/mp3

I have windows media player 9, but it can't play any type of media(mpeg,avi or mp3). Every time I tried to play anything, it crashes. Same problem with RealOne, however, it can play mpeg. I can still use Winamp to play mp3 and DVix player to play avi, but still want to solve the problem with WMP. Does anyone know what's the problem? Thanks.

delete all the codecs reinstall windows media player and install the latest versions of the codecs and try again
