1. Put the ps2 game in the dvd burner
2. Open Alcohol 120% or DVD Decrypter and make a image of the ps2 on your hard drive
3. Once you have the image on the hard drive open Alcohol 120% and burn the image to a blank dvd at 2-4x
4.Put swap magic in the ps2 and boot, then swap the swap magic disc for the ps2 backup and play.
Theres like a million post on this matter if you feel you need more information just use the search function.

To create an ISO File with Decrypter:
- you insert the disk (original game)
- select this drive as Source
- click on Mode on top
- select ISO
- select Read
- now you have to choose a drive where it should create the ISO file into
- and then you click on the big picture of the DVD and harddrive in the middle of the program
:) It might take up to two hours depending on the game

hi hursty .. this moment, I have written you a PM on the list of games successfully copied, which you posted in some other thread.
Well, yes. My DVD Decrypter needed up to almost 2 hours with one game.
But it did not work anyways :( The file had the same size as the original game but when I burned it with Nero and then tried to play on my ModChip-built-in PS2, it did not work.

Do I have to copy it to my hard drive 1st? Cant I just make a strait copy because I have a DVD Burner?
When using blank DVDR's which ones do I use? Plus Or Minus? Does the brand matter?

Yes you have to copy the game to your hard drive first with DVD Decrypter. You can use + or - DVDr depends on your ps2 version. I prefer DVD-R but its whatever works for you. The brand does matter, get good quality disks, I use Maxell DVD-R.

Can I make a straight copy to copy with another software, such as Alcohol 120% or Nero?

Straight copy works just as good. Its just if you put an image on the HD you can manipulate it more if you need to.
-some games require a patch for Swap Magic
-Most games require a patch for online play
A straight copy essentially works the same way... Nero makes an image then burns it, the only difference is Nero erases the image when it is done.

I copied the image to my harddrive and am ready to burn it. When I click decrypt it says: There doesn't appear to be enough space on the disc to burn the image. Would you like to continue?
WHAT SHOULD I DO? PLEASE HELP A.S.A.P.

It means that the blank disc you have inserted either has already any data on it or you have bought one with not enough space.
Buy a blank DVD with 4,7GB. (Better a brand like e.g. TDK, Sony,...)
Be sure that it is empty (!) when you use it for burning the image onto it.
All games I used this with so far, were not bigger than 4,7GB.

Really?!? .. what program did you use (when getting this message)?
And I have to agree. DVD Decrypter worked excellently for me, too.

I see. Nero seems to work with few people only.
A friend of mine has always been using Nero for the PS2 Games and never had any kind of problems. While in my case, only Decrypter did the job properly. - Interesting.

you can also try doing the following
step 1
if you have norton system works, empty the recycle bin
step 2
system restore...turn it off and on again (empty it)...
CONTROL PANEL..>..SYSTEM..>..SYSTEM RESTORE..turn off, apply, then turned back on..YOU MUST TURN BACK ON
step 3
temp folder...MY COMP..>..LOCAL DISK..>..WINDOWS..>..TEMP.."empty the contents"
or type C:\WINDOWS\TEMP in the run command
step 4
MY COMP..>..LOCAL DISK..>..DOCUMENTS AND SETINGS..>.." my user name ",i.e (what your user name is)..>..LOCAL SETTINGS..>..TEMP..>.."empty it"
or type "C:\Documents and Settings\your user name here\Local Settings\Temp"
if you have more than 1 user name,i.e more than yourself using the comp under a different user name, repeat step 4
NB
if you cannot see any of the folders,or cant find...
go to my comp/control panel/folder options/view/..tick.."show hidden files and folders"
regards hursty

Quote: I see. Nero seems to work with few people only.
dont read too much into this, the reason Nero is no good, sometimes,
is because people who are on FAT32 ,and not NTFS,cannot handle files bigger than 4GB,and Nero wont split the image into 2 parts(2 smaller files)
for example,if i had a game which is 4.4GB in size, and i was running FAT32,using Nero would be useless,as the pc cannot handle files bigger than 4GB, and Nero wont split them..this is where DVD Decrypter comes into its own.
it will split the 4.4GB in half creating 2 sectors of 2.2GB,thus allowing you to copy a game bigger than 4GB using FAT32,
then you burn the MDS file
