I am trying to rip DVD to DivX using #1 DVD Ripper software. I have installed and configured the DivX codec 5.2.1 and the DivX player (DivX titles will play on the DivX player and on Windows Media Player 10 so I know DivX works). I have also installed the ASPI layer 471. DVD movies ripped to DivX using #1 DVD Ripper casue both WM Player 10 and DivX Player to hang...sometimes a sound repeating or on DivX player a green screen with lines on it).
If I attempt to reinstall ASPI, it will say ?all files up to date,? however, when I use the Adaptec aspi checker (aspichk.exe) to verify the ASPI installation, the line saying "ASPI is properly installed and operational" is grayed-out (not sure if this indicates a problem?).
The files listed by Adaptec's (aspichk.exe) aspi checker are:
ASPI32.SYS 4.71.1 16512 bytes
WOWPOST 4.6 (1021) 4672 bytes *
WINASPI.DLL 4.6 (1021) 5600 bytes *
WINASPI32.DLL 4.71.1 4506 bytes
*Aren?t WOWPOST 4.6 and WINASPI.DLL 4.6 for Windows 2000 and not for Windows XP? (I use WXP Pro SP2 - system info below)
I have read of a workaround involving renaming some of the files included in the Adaptec installation package and manually copying them to the System32 folder. Might this be worth a try?
I have tried a registry hack suggested and provided by #1 DVD Ripper and their support suggested I try using the all-in-one ffdshow codec.
System Info: Laptop machine with 3.4 GHz P 4, Hyper-Threading, PCI Express, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Go Graphics Card with 256 MB memory, Intel 915P Chipset, 1 GB Dual Channel DDR2 RAM, 2 Hitachi 60 GB Hard Drives / RAID-0 Array, two optical drives including dual layer DVD+/-RW, running Windows XP Pro SP2 with Internet Explorer 6 SP2.
I am not sure the cause of the problem so any help, suggestions or direction will be greatly appreciated.
