in the past, i been using DVD-R to make my backups, but iam going low on them, and currently at local store, a 200 DVD+R spindel is on sale for $50 canadian.
was wondering, i have a ps2 slim version, with swap magic mod. if i change my media to these DVD+R, will my system be able to play them without problems? or should i stick with DVD-R?

any idea, experiences will be appricated

my ps2 likes both dvd-r and dvd+r just the same. but i hear that some older ps2s can not read +r at all.

I suggest getting 1 +r from a dollar store or somthing just to see if yours takes on to dvd+r. if it does then your laughing. if it acks like it cant recognize the disc at all then forget it.

I was about to start a thread with the same question ..
which was answered. Thanks!

Just one thing:
Our PS2 has a ModChip built it.
Do you think it might take +Rs, too?

will depend upon the version

all ps2s should take +r's but the earlier models have problems reading them

version 7 and up for + r's

but sometimes they would on lower versions

its version 3 and below that cant read +'s,
some version 4's can read both
5 and above will read all types

having said that, some people claim that there older version's read dvd+r

you can just change the booktypes anyways to dvd-rom

well, thanks.
sounds to me like "better stick to -R to be 100% certain" :)

As far as your mod chip goes, if it is any good it will read any type of media.

But i user -R for games and +R for movies for the most part.

As long as you use good media it should work just fine.
with a slim you should have no problem with either type.

I checked and our retail store should have Verbatim -R DVDs available, so I'll buy them on my way home :)
*thanks*

using dvd+r for movies is risky,as they are not recognised as well as dvd-r,especially on standalone players
the only good thing about dvd+r,is that you can change the booktype to dvd-rom
