Hey, my 4x DVD write had been working quite well, it was able to copy a movie within an hour and a half usually, decrypting included
But i recently reformatted my computer and for some reason now, when i try to copy a movie, it takes many many hours, up to 4 or 5 sometimes!
Is there a driver i may need to install or something, because i don't know how my read/write speeds could slow down so dramaticly after a reformat of my computer

Please, i need help and it will be appreciated, think you very much

check for adware, spyware and viruses and also do a defrag. I don't think that will clear up your problems completely, but it will probably help out some.

As far as not being able to change to DMA, maybe your BIOS has it disabled??? When you checked out the drive or IDE channel, did it say DMA, UDMA, or PIO?

I always check for spyware/adware/viruses and i doubt thats the problem.
My IDE:
Device 0
Transfer Mode: DMA if Available
Current Transfer Mode: Ultra DMA Mode 5

Device 1
Transfer Mode: DMA if available
Current Transfer Mode: Not Applicable

how do i get my BIOS to enable it if its disabled?

Looks like you only have 1 drive and it is set to DMA. That's good.
Did the slow down happen immediately after you reformatted? Or was it a little while after? Did you by any chance switch your drives connection cables? One last question whats the model of your burner?

you can get to your bios by restarting your computer and holding either Delete, F8, or sometimes F2. If done right, you won't go into windows. Be careful of what you change there though.

For XP Go to Start>Control Panel> System. Click on the hardware tab then device manager. You should see a plus next to DVD/CD ROM drives. Click the plus it will have your drives info there. Also if you double click on the drive you can see which driver you have installed. I don't think that's the problem but I could be wrong. I was just wondering if you switched cables for the drive you may be using a bad one. Does the software you used have a log that you could post?
