i have got a problem with three movies. TROY, SKY CAPTAIN, and KILL BILL Vol.2. the problem is that they went through SHRINK just fine, and they seemed to burn. but whenever i put them in my dvd player, it reads a disk error. i do not know what would have caused this problem. can someone please help me. i know nothing is wrong with my burner, i just finished burning another movie to make sure. i can play them just fine through my computer, but like i said when i put them in my dvd player it give me a disk message.

you mean this error?? "but whenever i put them in my dvd player, it reads a disk error"
have a wild guess what this means....maybe somethings wrong with your media....like its cheap and nasty and your dvd player doesnt like it....maybe you should try quality media....or a different dvd player

If they play ok on the drive you burned them on but not on you set-top player then it's either a compatability problem or poor quality media or both.

wow, that's a first for me, i have YET to see a Maxell dvd-r/dvd+r that was MADE IN JAPAN, as you stated, to be manufactured by Ritek (MADE IN TAIWAN ONLY). :)
but, back to the issue at hand, RitekG05s have worked well for me personally, but, to you it must be a different story~ i think the bottom line on this one is your standalone not being dvd-r format compatible as andmerr stated~ :)
Recommended Media:
Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03

Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

Yeah you might try the DVD plus R instead of the DVD dash R and try different blank media. i would go with either TY or Verbatium ,Ritek is GREAT media BUT i have had problems with Ritek NOT playing on some dvd players also.

it really is weird. those are the only three that i have had problems with. i have burned at least 20 other movies on that same media. i have no problems whatsoever. i dont know what the deal is. i am going to try to redo them again this weekend just to see if maybe something happened that i did not know about. this is a new one on me. all comments are still appreciated, espically if you can think of a setting that i messed up on or something like that. but, like i said, i burned 3 more after those three, not changing any setting and they all worked great.
