how can i do a screen grab and do i need some kina program someone said to me that i just pess print screen on my keyboard wen im playin the vid but wen i copied into into a program (Paint etc) it wen away as soon as i closed the video

If the played file is using overlay to display, you only get a black box.
Try virtualdubmod.
