Hello,
i've been reading around these threads for a while now reading everyone's solutions and problems and i still cant do it.
I'll explain my case totally, and am hoping somebody knows what im not doing right.
i have a messiah mod chip, works fine.
i have a LITEON dvd r/rw drive which has a dual layer feature. (i've heard this is the worst dvd re-writer)
i am trying to burn the game Super Monkey Ball DX to dvd.
What i have done so far:
So far i have tried to burn the "go-smbdr" CD Image File (2.19GB) to a maxwell DVD+RW disc at 4X - that did not work. I have reasons to believe PS2 games have to be burnt to DVD-R only. I used Alcahol 120%. Disc read error.
Bought some DVD-R's, namely Sony DVD-R Ver2.0/1X-8X. I burnt the Image File to the DVD at 4X using Alcahol120%. Disc read error.
I have Nero, DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink and Alcahol 120% a good spec PC.
Is there only 1 file (the image file) that needs to be burnt, or do burn each individual file inside the image file onto the DVD?
Is it really true i cannot use DVD-RW's, as i seem to be wasting quite a few DVD-R's.
dps27a@hotmail.com if you have a solution, or if you are an expert and wouldn't mind spending a little time trying to help.
Hi
Check the condition of your source disc for scratches and finger prints first before you try anything else.
Use dvd decrypter to read the disc and to burn the iso
Open Decrypter
Insert game
Choose mode ISO read choose destination folder, after its finnished reading
Choose mode ISO write and pick the biggest image file in your case 2.19 gb choose your burn speed i always burn at x4 but some have better luck at x2
USE GOOD QUALITY MEDIA!
Hope this helps
freshone it's odb. try decrypter it works great that's what i use. first open decrypter, up top click on mode then go to read iso, then when its finish go back to mode and now go to write iso. now put ur dvd-r in the drive and click on the drive to disc picture in the middle of the program. and that should work. try using dvd-r because ur ps2 might not play the dvd+r. and let me know if that works for you. odb
Use DVD Decrypter.
For the writing process, be sure to choose the ".MDS" file.
(DVD Decrypter makes two image files, one "ISO" and one "MDS").
And burn with slow speed. I use speed: 2x and it works.
Plus, do not run several other programmes at the same time while Decrypter is running.
OK more questions may help me answer your question
Is the Disc a CD or DVD (look on the disc for the DVD symbol)
If it is a CD then you should be burning it to a CD-R not a DVD-R
And you would not use DVD Decrypter but a CD back up program like CDrwin, Nero, or something. If it is a DVD then you would use DVD Decrypter.
But when you use DVD Decrypter, and trust me i have many, many times, you WILL get both an ISO and MDS file for any DVD based game. And then you burn the MDS file to a DVD-R disc. Do not use DVD-RW as they do not work for PS2 games.
With a good mod chip it should make no difference as to the format (NTSC or PAL), mine (DMS4 Pro) will play either just fine. Check the specs on the chip you have to see if your does. And from what i read it does play both.
I know people who have Liteon Writers and say they work fine. One more thing is if you have not already done it, update your burners firmware to the newest version, just do an internet search with your model (like Liteon + your model number followed by firmware)
If your getting DRE's and your PS2 is that version, which is around 3 years old then it most likely your laser. Firstly, try cleaning it with a cotton swab and alcohol fluid. Then if that doesnt work try adjusting the laser height. Finally if that doesnt work try and adjust the laser voltage. You can find information on these from google. One of these steps usually does the trick.
