Max Drive for boot?

Can I use a max drive (with a certain file) to boot up my PS2 and play games on a DVD-R?

no.

Max drive only works with Action replay,
Its for game saves and cheat codes basically.

You need swap magic discs (original) they cant be copied,
And and a 'tool' to open the tray.
Then you will be able to play ps2 copied games.
