Here is the error information.

Any help really appreciated. I just get Illegal disk and it stops itself everytime. Not only with Nero but with Roxio as well.

This points to your burner not recognising your inserted media.

You stated that you are using memorex 8x dvd-r, I have just looked around ofr the specs on your burner and it appears that it can only write to +R/+RW formats, therefore the -R that you are using is incompatible - hence the 'illegal disc' message.

Have a look here for your specs:
http://www.dvdplusrw.org/Product.Compare.asp?mid=14&sid=15&Brand=...

Hope this helps.............

Let us know.

Get the +R/+RW, try and steer clear from memorex, lots of people have had issues with them, and gone for better brands like Ritek/Taiyo Yuden/Maxell/TDK/AZO etc etc.
However some people have had good success with them, so maybe worth a try, but if there any of the above manufacturers (+R) then go for on of them.

It has been common for the +R and -R format not to be properly explained when purchasing burners.

As burners now are becoming dual format as a norm (+/- capable), it is often overlooked.

Also just to note, Roxio and Nero do not like each other, and can cause sporadic burning issues, Nero works better than Roxio, so I would uninstall that and stick with Nero.

Good luck and

- i take it that it's those 2 paragraphs TOGETHER that constitute unrecognised media, as ALL my own burns have blank info returned on that first paragraph, however i never have the second paragraph as all my burns are fine. As i say i'm sure i'm correct, it's just that i do come across posts where ppl say that it's unrecognised media, but they only post the first bit ie

I think you're right there.

However it does give the indication here:

Managed to get the type and ID.

Trouble with Nero logs, very indepth, you have to sift through it and try and piece things together, typical Nero though, nothing simple............LOL
