Newbie here again ;-)

Using Super DVD Ripper, no problem creating mpeg file, but when I go to burn it, the program tells me I have no CD-R device! I have uninstalled and reinstalled the CD-R driver to no avail. What next?

post your computer specs, and what program you're using to burn; we might be able to help you a little more efficiently.

Go to>>My Computer>>DVD Drive>>Properties>>recording tab>>
check the box where it says "enable cd recording on this drive".

You may also want to go into the administrative service section of control panel and disable "Imapi Service" since you're using a program other than windows to burn cds.

Thanks, will try. To clarify, it is a CD-R drive not a DVD drive. Also I have done many audio burns to CD on it without trouble...

hi

are you ripping a dvd to mpeg2 to cdr? you making SVCD discs for your dvd player then?

if doing main movie only you can use avi2dvd (yes dvd to dvd aswell) a free app (very good) rip the movie with dvd decrypter in movie only mode (file mode - set it in settings) then load to avi2dvd and make SVCD....

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

that's why I mentioned disabling IMAPI because it often conflicts with other burning software.

OK:
IMAPI disabled - no change
avi2dvd tells me I need btwn 2-4 Gb of space to burn the desired flick, and that's only half of it! I was under the impression I could fit a standard movie onto 2 CD-R's...

Is this process SUPPOSED to be this infuriating??
OK, SuperDVDripper still won't recognize my CD-r drive.
Avi2DVD :
- On Input - I have an .IFO file not .AVI so I have input on DVD mode
- On Output - DVD and SVCD are on the same option the alternative being VCD so I can't select SVCD and not DVD. Strangely it also won't let me select # of discs when I choose CD-R for the output destination...

Rotary,

I had him using SuperDVDRipper and the problem was the proggy didn't find his CD R/W drive so I told him to begin a thread. He also tried to uninstall his CD R/M drive from evice Manager and still it didn't see his drive.

There isn't anything at all wrong with SuperDVDRipper. (Actually, it's a pretty super proggy.)

Give it a go . . . .

Got any suggestions ?

Hi again,

Well I now have reached the limit on SuperDVDRipper without registering/paying for it, and since I can't get it to recognize my CD-R drive, no point in paying money for something I can't use!
I did get the disc # working on Avi2DVD with the new version, but half the flick supposedly still needs close to 3 gig (4 CD-Rs) and that's just the first half! How do I cut down the size?
