Did you know that in many PS2 games there are files that are there just take up space? That is their sole purpose... to just take space up. For instance language files and messed up LBA numbering systems. There is a method to actually fix the codes and essentially put more than one game on a disc... also it can help with storing games on a hard drive. Do your own searches on how to do it, im just saying its possible and that i know it is.
Since most new games are on DVDs, I bet it would not make much difference if I found a way not to burn the language, trash files, etc. - would it? Even if I did that, the rest would not fit onto a CD instead of a DVD ..

removing garbage/trash files does not affect users with modchips,
but it can affect people who use swapmagic disk's,
causing slower/problematic game play,poor/non loading of games
so its bests to remove them
