DMS4 lite with V12 and Dual Layered Backups

I am thinking of purchasing a dual layered burner. Now what drive would you recommend that is good and reliable.

Also, with my DMS4lite, I know it can boot Dual Layered backups... so, what kind of DL backups does it boot, DVD+R9, DVD+R DL, or the minus equivalents?

One more thing. On looking at drives I noticed, that they say they can record to minus* r dual layered media. Now when looking at the spec of the drive it says +r9 writing and some say -r dl1 writing... What does this mean, essentially I want to know what dual layered burner would be best for dvd9 backups on my ps2.

If this is in the wrong forum I apologize, I posted it here as it is in relation to booting DVD9 backups on my ps2 :)
