I just ordered SM 3.6 and Magic switch pro. So started looking into how to make backups. After reading the threads I have few questions.

Q.1) How do I if ps2 game is on DVD9 or not?(since DVD9 does not play with swap magic)

Q.2) How do I know if I need to patch/rebuild the game?(dont want to burn dvds and then find out that I have to patch/rebuild)

Q.3) How does rebuilding reduse the size of the game?(I have read threads that says that they rebuilt and 4gb went to 2gb. Is it whole game or some part cut out?)

Well these are the questions so far... I am sure I'll have more once I start burning. Thanks

Put it in your drive, start up DVD Decrypter and choose Mode->ISO->Read. When it loads up look at the box with the information in it at the bottom, it will say how many layers the disc has, if it has 2 layers it is DVD9 (dual layer)

Q.2) How do I know if I need to patch/rebuild the game?(dont want to burn dvds and then find out that I have to patch/rebuild)
You search the posts here for that game title. About 95% of them will work fine. All games that you want to play online will have to be patched though.

Q.3) How does rebuilding reduse the size of the game?(I have read threads that says that they rebuilt and 4gb went to 2gb. Is it whole game or some part cut out?)

Not sure why, but unless you have problems with the game play (choppy audio or video even when using good media), or you find a thread that says it has to be rebuilt don't worry about doing it.

P.S. as far as rebuilding, some games do have dummy or garbage files. And those have to be replaced most of the time. That is when you would rebuild it. As far as which games like i said just do a search on the forums before you burn it and see what you find
