I have a question, the audio is lower on my backups and it is like this for all of them, i have copied about 30 backups and i have the problem with all of them. By lower audio I mean that when i turn the volume up on my TV or comp all the way the audio does not sound as loud as it should, this is especially bothersome when watching movies where the dialogue is important to hear, anyway any help would be greatly appreciated.
someone please help!!!! i'm having this problem too.
i tried using AnyDVD 5.1.1.1 and clone 2.8.2.1 on matrix revolutions, and the volume was fine, too bad the video was horribly studdered - even when played straight from the hd. (also true for star wars.) so, i tried shrink (for the 4th time - i thought maybe AnyDVD would help it work). after not being able to get it to encode (failed at 100% completion) in full disk mode, i tried to reauthor it. it encoded and burned, but on my laptop you can barely hear the gunshots let alone the dialog, but the video is not bad - not perfect, but acceptable for a rush job.
would using decrypter change the volume? i haven't much time...i got some videos for a marine who is shipping out this weekend and i'd like him to be able to take copies instead of originals.
thanks much...other software suggestions would be willingly accepted.
what i will say is that the audio track is not changed, all you do with shrink etc is miss out the audio tracks you don't want, say DTS or 2channel stereo or whatever. The audio track is copied exactly as it is from the original DVD.

I've had that happen to me on all my backups. Not to the point were it would make a differnce, but I've noticed that the audio is slightly lower than on the orginal. I always take the extra audio out and only leave 5.1. I personally thought it was just me going deaf but now that I see other people have had it happen.
I do all my bacups in 5.1CH and I do have to say there is a slight difference when I play them on the upstairs DVD player (not hooked up to a 5.1CH system) Nothing real noticeble,but it is a little lower. However on my main system which does have a 5.1CH amp hooked up to it there is no difference. So I would say try a movie in 2CH and see if that makes a difference I am willing to bet it will...

@amsp
What kind of media are you using? Those are the symptoms of crappy blank DVDs.
My backups play at a slightly lower level on one of my players. I turn the volume up a bit and the problem is solved. The audio stream is multiplexed in with the video files so if you have bad video there is a good possibility of bad audio as well. I agree with bbmayo's idea of using just the 2 channel audio... And good media!
