So on two different computers the 2004 dvd release of Freaky Friday (Disney) freezes before it opens in DVD Shrink. Tried different firmware for the drive and no different. NEC 3520a and LITEON drives tried. DVD Decrypter also tried. Movie on hdd full at 7+ Mb but when I try to open file in Shrink, the same thing happens. Any ideas?

Did you try disabling video preview during analysis and encoding? Sounds pretty silly, but I've had this problem and that did the trick for me. Not on Freaky Friday, but on others.

could maybe be a faulty/dirty disc, but need more precise errors/details to go on

The best way to do Disney movies is to make sure that you do not load/install the Interactual movie player - if you have - remove it from your system through the Add/Remove option in the Control Panel.

Also if using Shrink - use the Reauthor mode and do Movie only (get rid of the extra's crap).

This a simple burn with the above techniques.

Well, the wierd thing is that I couldn't even "open disc". It would hang before the initial 1.5 min analyzing process. I left it for about 10 min and no response so I closed shrink. Got message that the program was not responding. Tried it on my new cpu and same thing. Then I put it back in the p4 and switched over to my older comp to get on the forum. About a half hour later I switched back over to the p4 and the summary was up. So it took over 10 min but less than 30 min to open the disc initially. Only movie in about 375 that did this. Strange...
And I always disable video preview, seems to speed things up. And I never got any error messages cause it hung up before it even analyzed anything.
Thanks for all your suggestions, and sorry to not get back sooner. I'm working 11 days in a row covering a vacation @ 12 hours a day and it's been kicking my ass...
Later,
Joe
