i've been following this guide to encode my files http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/AVI2DVD.htm
and it works good except for the fact that tmpgenc encoded the file almost twice as long as the source file. I am encoding episodes of a tv show for dvd (each episode is about 48 minutes long) and i end up with a file almost 2 hours long with almost an hour of black screens after the 48th minute. i am encoding 4 episodes per dvd at 2300 kbps. i don't know why it is encoding for so long.

The file has VBR audio, and TMPGEnc can't accurately determine it's length. Use the "source range" function (look on the Setting, Advanced tab" to limit it to the REAL length of the movie.

i spoke too soon, it didn't work. i checked source range under the advanced tab, i also double clicked it and the source range filter acknowledges it as a 48 minute file with 61,700 frams. but when i close settings and go back to TMPGEnc the file is still 177,385 frames long.

oh my god. nevermind, i got it. though the end frame marker IS already at the end, i just had to click the "set as end frame" button. by default it inputs (-1) as the end frame, and once i hit the button it input the correct frame (61700).

i thought i'd explain it incase anyone else has the same problem i did. thanks for your help.
