I keep getting checkerboard patterns on DVD-R+ disks I ripped . Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix the problem?

Don't understand the question. Do you mean checkerboard pattern on backups made with dvd+r's or checkerboard pattern when you rerip a dvd+r to yur hdd and try to play from hdd?

sounds like artifacts in the burnt media. i hate to say it but it sounds like too fast a burn speed, bad media, or both.

to add to what creaky said, it may also be because of whatever proggys you are using to do the process. What programs are you using?

Thanks for your input, the media is Verbatim DVD-R . I understand this is good media. The burner is brand new a Lacie D2 burner less than two weeks old. The checkerboard pattern appears on the ripped duplicate disk.
