You don't finalize a DVD + or -R unless you burned it on a set top DVD recorder. DVD Decrypter automatically burns the leadout. It wouldn't play otherwise. You are either using crap media or one that's not compatable with your PS2. I have had really bad media that wouldn't finalize, but it also wouldn't play on anything including the computer. When I say finalize, I am talking about burning the leadout. There is nothing special to do to a DVD to get it to play on a PS2 other than using good quality media that is compatable with your particular model of PS2.

i wasn't really sure - just had a quick look and found this - http://www.dvd-recordable.org/Article363-mode=thread-order0-thres...

what i do read about often is that PS2 lasers are picky, so from that i guessed they would be funny about rewritables more so that standard DVDR's

yes ps2 lasers are very picky. Mine doesn't read rewritable discs at all, or DVD+R discs.

At this point in time, I think there has been 12 versions of the PS2 made. All versions should play DVD-R, versions 5 and up and some V4 should play DVD+R as well. Mine is a V4 but doesn't play +R discs.

I think most PS2's will freeze up on a rewriteable disc if they will even play them at all.
