I purchased and installed a dms4 lite chip in my v12 ps2. I've tried several different backup methods with my games, and none of the backups seem to work. I either get the red screen of death, or it says that there isn't any data on the disc. I've looked at the layout of the disc and it seems to be identical to the original. I've tried different media also, but nothing seems to work. When looking at the wiring of the modchip, everything seems to look fine. I've backup up other things (movies etc.) without any problems. I went to dms4.com and they didn't help me with anything. I sent them a message over a month ago and they haven't responded, and I couldn't find anything about this on their site. Any ideas? Thanks.
No...I haven't installed any other bios. I'll give that a try. I'm not sure exactly where to download that from, but I'll do a web search and see if I can find it. I've tried about 5 different brands of dvd-r discs, and all have given me the same result. I saw somewhere else that the dms4 lite has issues with dvd-r's and not with dvd+r's. I haven't tried a dvd+r yet because my burner only supports -r.
I installed the toxic bios and tried a backup. The backups that I've tried are VERY jerky, even the startup screens. It'll play for a second, then pause for 2, play for a second, pause for 2. I'm using the DVD decrypter/isobuster/nero method for backing my games up right now. Is there a different way I should be doing this?
yes there is a better way. Just use DVD Decrypter to read it to your hard drive and then write it to a DVD
I do not know why you are using all of those just to back up a game, you only need ISO buster when rebuilding an ISO, which with a DMS chip you will not have to do
Set DVD Decrypter write speed at 1X for the first try and see how it works, if it is still choppy then try 4X
Some of the modchip may not read the DVD-R, also when you read the game into the CD or DVD, you need set the recording software with DAO (Disc At Once) otherwise; the disc will remain open so the PS2 may not load the game disc.
As I know some of the people has problem with the DMS4 modchip because with BIOs something. I have my PS2 with DUO2 SE modchip on about 8 months now, no problem at all. about a year ago, I try to install the modchip by myself, but I broken it, so bid a use PS2 on ebay and asked pstwomods to install it for me, they do a really good job on it.
