Sorry this is such a newbie question but if given a music video dvd, can i shrink it and back it up onto a cd? If not, can i just back up the music/audio aspect and cut out the video?

If you want to make a cd that will play like a dvd you looking to make a VCD or SVCD. Check out this link, about halfway down there are some guides on how to do what your looking for:

As far as stripping the audio, this topic has been covered extensivly before. For some reason I can't get a link to a search query to work, so you'll have to do it yourself. Just do a search with the keyword "Dvd Audio" change not older than to All and about 50-100 different posts will come up. There are numerous ways to accomplish it, I use the SmartRipper/Nero method myself.

No problem at all. The previous threads are ALOT more helpfull than I could ever be, half the problems you can/will face will probably already been reported/solved in them as well. The search feature is usually a whole lot faster then waiting for replys as well.
