Window 98 Audio/Video Skipping, but now on WInodws XP

Hey, I have windows 98 and Windows XP on the same computer (partitioned) Whenever I play video like a movie or audio like a song, it will skip on Windows 98, but not on XP. I am not streaming it, and it doesnt matter if it is on a cd or not. Windows XP never skips, and Windows 98 pretty much always skips. I do not remember this ever happening before, but my computer is not very good.

Intel Pentium III, 450 Mhz.
192mb pc100 ram
80gb hard drive.

I do not see why it would only happen on windows 98. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks
