Ok, I'm new here, but have pretty much figured out what I needed to do.
I have an xvid avi that I need to convert to DVD format. I do this with
WINAVI Video Converter. It only has two size ratios, and that is 4:3 and 16:9.
The video in which I am converting has a size of 640x288 (2.22:1) [=20:9].
Whenever I convert it to 4:3 or 16:9, the size now becomes 720x480 (1.50:1) [=3:2]
When I put the dvd on the analog tv, the image becomes very distorted and squished in.
When I put the dvd in a widescreen tv, the image is perfect
because the tv spreads out the image
The movie on the analog tv looks like this:
I want it to look like this:
Could this just be because of the dvd player settings and/or tv settings?
another thing I noticed is when I play the video on powerDVD, i have to select "keep aspect ratio" for it to look the way I want it to. When this feature is not selected it is stretched abnormally.
I have that program, but I usually like to test the file it produces about 10 seconds into its conversion from AVI to mpg (dvd), so as soon as it reaches 2% or so I click abort so I can open the file up on powerdvd to make sure of it's size, but I think i'm missing a codec or some shit...any help on that one?
