Not really splitting, but I would like to take out certain scenes from .avi files. I have tried using virtualdub to do this, but in order for you to do it properly you have to use keyframes and I always end up not getting the start and end frames where I want them. I have looked in previous posts and people have mentioned adobe premiere but I have a feeling it has a similar keyframe barrier. Anybody know how to do what Im trying to do it would be greatly appreciated.

The KeyFrame Barier you speak of is Not a Software Limitation but a Limitation of the AVI format It"s self so no matter what software you use you will not be able to edit on a Frame Accurate Basis....

You can Re-encode the DivX/XviD File useing the "HuffYUV" codec which will make it so every Frame is a Key frame to you will be able to accurately edit the File when it is in HuffYUV Format Pluss there will be no Quality Loss going from XviD to HuFFYUV because HuFFYUV Is a Lossless codec ....

The Problem you Might have is that HuffYUV Files are HUGE, Up to 30gb per Hour of Video....

Are you Planning on Makeing a VCD or SVCD or DVD from these Files?? because if so you can Cut out any scenes or Frames Ect when you are encodeing to (S)VCD/DVD Format....In Tmpgenc"s "Source Range" settings you can select which Frames to encode and which ones to Not Encode.....

No i was planning on keepin them in AVI format. I dont like the sound of having 30gb files for an hour of video but at least you responded with something. If only i could put a keyframe where I want the video to begin and end somehow.
