gaa FF12 is a joke tho broken skill system,bland equipment make combat a drag, the story is ok but good lord its more mindless SP MMO than anything else.
I don't hold much hope for the new FF "half" games they are launching for the PS3....

Yeah I hear ya, XII was a giant miss with me. Played for roughly 5 hours and quit. I recently started playing X again, never gave it a fair chance the first time around. I am about 50 hours in and am having a blast, sad that XII was such a departure.
As far as the future of FF's, they will all fall short to me. Since when was Final Fantasy....Future Fantasy? XIII looks waaaaay over the top, I would really love a throwback to the roots, ala IV or VI, or even IX! Add some purty graphics to apease all the whiners that think graphics mean everything, and there you go. Another Squenix hit!
As far as TRUE remakes go, not just same game with a new dungeon, I would love to see VI before VII. VI with updated graphics and voice acting would be beyond awesome. Oh yeah, and git rid of Umaro....hated that beast.

No dcking with the content please add all you want but make sure its an option... the wild arms remake is missing sht becuse of the whole lets re do this instead of add it spew..
I dunno the only thing I liked about X was the gem board system and the to late to be great weapon customize thing the rest of it was pretty much a loss, FF12 has better level design character and story..only the combat wants to make you pull your teeth out because its either boring or visual noise.....

Can't wait till Fallout3 comes out so I can trash talk abotu it, BIoshock is bad enough as far as mainstreamized watered down gaming goes but FO3 is gunning for the cake no groin hits no tactical combat just a FPS RPG with a slow mode.
altho...I am so torn because I am a rabbied(as in I need shots) FPS RPG fan.....BS just comes up as barely above average in a industry that thinks 7 is the new average....

XII had a better story then X? Come one now Zippy, I expect so much more from you! Granted XII was not as cliche as X, but the story was so far and few apart in XII it almost seemed non existent. I did not give a flying fark about any of the characters in XII; whereas in X I felt a connection to Yuna and even the whiny Tidus. Lulu had certain appendages that grew on me too :D
And I know this will start a war, but it is ok. VII IS ONLY AN ABOVE AVERAGE RPG!!! Can you really say that VII would still be so popular if it was released 3 years later then when it did? It hit the ps1 at the most opportune time....crap like Beyond the Beyond made it seem even better then it really was. Don't get me wrong, I love the game...but to label it the best FF is insane. Most FF veteran's will say the same.
Character development was ok, sadly the only way to fully understand the story is too get to know the compilation on VII. I have seen it/played it all besides Last Order. It should not take that much to understand that Cloud was injected with cells and is a loony freak.
Materia system = bleh. No unqiue skills beyong limit breaks, nothing to see here. Max materia, learn to link, game over. I raped that system, killing the Weapon's with only a few button pushes is dumb. Yeah I had to grind like crazy to get to that point, but it still shouldn't be so automated.
And I have no respect for Cloud now, Zack's role in Crisis Core crushed my previously formed perception of Cloud. Zack > Cloud in my opinion.
As far as FO3 and Mass Effect, I have nothing to say. Not my type of game. Couldnt comment regardless really, Lost Odyssey killed my 360 :/

Well FO3 is absed on a over head almost TBS style DEEP RPG game, somehow a TES with guns dose not fit into deep tactical RPG..... ME is just another kotor clone IMO...... and the whitcher is the basatered child of kotor and daiblo ><
Now with that said Look at the characters and story in FF12 yes its better than X's...altho both have some interesting sub plots like the whole zombies ruling over the living populace in X but I digress for me X is more shallow than 7 but not by alot as far as shallow story/characters goes 5 takes the cake unless you want to bring 1-3 up.

2.FF8 (meek RPG on romance world....shoot me NOW)
3.FF10 (meek romance RPG set on the remains of romance world.....)
4.FF12 (a star wars fantasy plot that advances slower than grass growing)
5.FF7 (generic anime rocker insipred wried thingy)
6.FF9 (as much as I adore 9 its gots issues)
As far as gamepaly goes you cannot dismiss that the maitria system added to the equipment system because of this it balanced out the genericness(unless you spent days leveling maitria and breaking the flow of the game :P ) and the limit breaks pushed it above average as far as FFs/RPGs go, 9 is a more solid FF hell tis still the most solid FF in gameplay/equipment/characters/story.

mabye can stick X in before 1 I dunno, 1 has some damn fun magic laced weapons and other things like a world map that tend to make it more enjoyable than X was.
One thing about 7 and 9 were they were fun, X is a bit to bland IMO the customizing is nice and saves it from complete blandness but over all there just to much goign agisnt it.
Have you played DQ8? I found it ok but tidous as hell and the equipment was rather bland.

all i know for a fact is ffxii is the best yet in the series senix made it waay over the top..every little thing in the game has been pushed to the ps2 graphic power,i went on 1 level and i looked at the sky the clouds were flowing 1 way while another set of clouds were going the other way any other game would of just had 1 set of clouds just flowing 1 way,if you really look youll see that basch has the microsoft windows sign on him..balthier has braclets each in the colour of windows sign,look i know my rpgs n ffxii is soo oviously the best yet by miles otherwise square wouldnt of made it,famitsu gave it 40/40 this is a harcore adult game jus like the square said,but a ffvii remake would totally be huuge i really cant think of any sport hobby etc that would beat a ffvii remake I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT ITS BEEN DEVELOPED BEHIND CLOSED DOORS SO OVIOUS THE TECH DEMO WAS A BRAIN TEASER OF COURSE SONY KNOW HOW BIG IT BE

i'm no FF guru. i'm not a FF Veteran. i think i might have TRIED to play the other FF games, but i'm pretty sure that my first FF game was FF7. i did get the FFgames that were 'remade' on ps1. i never managed to finish any of them. i thought about it, and thought about it some more, but could never finish them. i think MAYBE i finished one of them, but i know i never finished them all. it seems that i didnt even give them a chance. i did finish chrono trigger and mario rpg. but all the FF games, not yet. now i gotta go back and see what i missed out on.
after a while, i bought 7,8,9. 7 is by far my favorite. there's so much mythology involved, so many conspiracy theories to engage in or whatever. 8 is good but only slightly. i kinda did like the romance. 9 is better than 8 by leaps and bounds. it's just a shame that they were 4 CDs long.

the only reason kidz are moaning about ffxii battle system is because they want the same old boring still turn based,but square where doing the same boring ffx battle system year after year...guess what the ffxii battle syystem is the same but more refreshing your not felt paralyzed same position so ffxii bs is just totally awesome you can walk/run AND fight in 12 daaamm man wake up,oh yeah ff13 IS JUST FKING TOTALLY BAD ASS TRUST,youv got that badboy blonde guy mr 33cm FINAL FANTASY XIII IS GOING TO RULE FULL STOP.

I agree with most of this. In my opinion, the ps1 generation FF's go like this:
9>7>8
I am not going to include origins or anthology, simply because they were not originals. IF you liked IX SuperXL, try both IV (2 in the US) and VI (3 in the US). IX was more or less a tribute to those games, both of which are arguably among the best rpg's of all time (X Play, a lame G4 show, ranked VI as the best rpg ever the other day...take it for what it is worth lol). VI will always be my favorite title in the series.

cause on my tube its got the scan grain, the same scan grain from Final Fantasy IX.
with all do respect Final Fantasy XII looks like garbage because of it.
they wanted to cheat data space so they used scan grain.
a bad idea.
now i got to go back to my Tales of Phantasia.

i was gonna comment on that. i hate the way the faces look on that game. most of them look the same, with the exception of the FMVs i guess. crap, i would have to look at it again to make sure they look like that, but i know for a fact that i hated the faces.

why not include origins? they looked like cut/paste versions of the first ones to me. i compared how they started from my NES emulators and they looked the same. maybe i missed something. ps1 version had a couple of FMVs which we totally couldn't have had on NES. FFVI (3 in america) was one that i could never really bring myself to start somehow. i rented it, and lost interest back in the day. but now, i might play it for real. i had been meaning to go back through and (re)play all the games from I-X. definitely not XII because it took me 6months to even care about finishing it. i remember some of the advertisements for VI, and really wanted to play it, but could never stick with it.

hey i dont want to fight...im indian uk and final fantasy xii is far far superior than any other,its totally huge graphics are just brilliant pushed to the ps2 power limit,iv got tesoblivion goty and ff12 at the moment is the no1 rpg,square are about making millions if not billions of £ do u think they would go for the same battle system just because jonathan jamestown wants the same shit foff square move on and find better things u rpg kidz dunno shit if any1 says ff12 is crap maan they dunno shit all LOOK FINAL FANTASY XII IS THE BEST OF THE SERIES AND BEST RPG AT THE MOMENT FULLSTOP(I SWEAR ONLY TILL FFXIII)

You don't wanna fight. The games Graphics look like Shit. The games story is good the battle system is okay. and the weapons are generic.
Whats the difference between a the katana called Musasama and ichiorgi
the damage. the weapons all look the same. the hilt might be a deferent color thats it.
And when you talk about pushing a ps2 game to a limit. what do you mean limit. safe limit yes the maximum limit no.
and the fighting system is generic to the point i wanna cry, hack slash hack slash.
would it hurt to put some special weapon moves in.

Ya FF12 would have been good if it had a solid equipment system but god lord its weak.

FF1's was pretty damn good with the magic enabled weapons, but 4 and 6 prefect it more or less, I dislike FF6 because they go rid of the spell attached to the weapon but it had some neat equipment.

XII does not expand on the graphics one bit. all the faces are basically the same. scan grain is what i hear it's called.... that was stupid. X had better facial features. and that's only one aspect of it... i'll go so far as to say that X was decent, but XII is slightly less decent as X. but that's JUST MY OPINION. i think what turned me off from XII was the summoning. the usual crew wasnt there. i couldnt eventually learn to summon Bahamut, the dragon king. i had to watch him as an airship. i think that is the main reason why i didnt like XII as much as i could have. which is why we are still gonna wait on the FF VI and VII remakes =^D

I am just a bit sick of generic player skills. X with the sphere grid and XII with the license board. IX was great simply because it gave each character an individual skill, i.e. Zidane was a thief and could skill, while Vivi was the designated black mage. This is proboabl why I miss the SNES generation, there was none of this bs in VI!
This, on top of character development, is crucial. X did a great job developing characters, but each character was a clone of each other with respect to skills, only difference being their initial stats and limit breaks. XII failed terribly, no individuality and the development aspect was slow as hell.
