Some of my backup DVD-VIDEOs will not play in either Windows Media Player 9 or Windows Media Player 10. Windows Media Player produces an exception 0xc0000005 as soon as it starts to play the main title. I have searched high and low and found no definitive solution but find that many other people have the same problem and codec problems are often touted as the cause.

These backups play perfectly in my Sony DVD player. The backups were made using CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD. Only the DTS audio was backed-up/copied.

After some experimentation, I've found that the offending backups are those that have only the DTS audio track (and no AC3 audio track). Including the AC3 track solves the problem.

Maybe this is some sort of codec problem but including the AC3 track may help others solve their issues with Windows media Player and DVD-VIDEO.
