Hi there.

I converted an AVI file i downloaded to MPEG with TMPGEnc.exe, so i can use TMPGEnc DVD Author to create my DVD.

After conversion, i had to download DivX, otherwise i couldn't open it on TMPEnc.exe, after i installed DivX i was finally able to open and convert.

The original AVI does have audio, but the MPG result has NO-AUDIO.

What can i do ??

hi

i use TMPGEnc PLUS! for this sort of thing and other apps i use a template for PAL or NTSC and output as video-audio, is this what you do?

also you can use divxtodvd for speed to get to vob/ifo/bup extension files which can be loaded to dvd author too.

you need menus then?

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

Hi Rotary.

Where can i find TMPGEnc PLUS?? is it Free ??
I'm using TMPGEnc DVD Author for adding a menu and stuff...
I want to convert to MPG, 'cause if i convert to DVD format, the video doesn't look good.

I tryed with ULEAD Video Studio, i took the VIDEO into a new project... burned a DVD, format 6 VCD into 1 DVD. but it didn't look good.

If i convert this .AVI (vcd quality) to .MPG (vcd quality) looks greate.. but i have no sound

If i convert this .AVI (vcd quality) to DVD quality looks bad.

hiok you have a dilemma! as even dvd author will make vobs for dvd after you made a menu! VCD to dvd has 2 losses of quailty and you cant do much about it! now if you file to start with was SVCD the dvd can be good at the end!

for the best results possible use either avi2dvd or film machine these apps are free and have encoders built in! i recommend useing avi2dvd and HCEnc built in encoder...

this will of course make vobs but of a higher quailty than where you are at at present and if you combine avi2dvd with CCE (you pay for this) its top notch! but as i say VCD to dvd useing anything is going to be poor! fact!

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

hi

ok if the AVI wont load you may need codecs? i use K-LITE mega pack from www.free-codecs.com and if it still wont load up the priority in enviromental settings i think it is on DIRECTSHOW to 2.

The AVI files does have 2 codecs for audio & 2 for Video.. this after i installed DivX.

The MPEG is not a format supported for GSpot.

hi

you could load to avicodec and see what the file you have is on the audio!

did you try K-LITE codecs it has everyone you need! ;-])

what apps have you treid for the file you made to listen to it? powerdvd? have you set the speaker config? as it may be on 5.1 and you need 2.1 ?

Finally i was able to convert the video to MPG with sound.

I used a software called Mainconcept MPEG Encoder.
The only problem now, is that as it's a demo there's their logo on the video all the video long, ALSO it left my video much bigger:

AVI = 750 MG
MPEG TMPGEnc = 1.1 GB
This software = 1.8 GB

Thanks

I'm going crazy with this video.

I finally made a MPEG with excelent quality, and sound.

BUUUUTTTT...

when i take the video with a DVD Author... it tell me i can not add this file, because it's:

608 x 240 pixeles.

If i convert it to normal 352x240 the video looks really bad !!!

1. Mainconcept MPEG Encoder (to convert AVI to MPEG, with audio)
2. TMPGEnc (MPEG 608x240 to MPEG 352x240) without distotion.
3. TMPGEnc DVD Author (to add it to a DVD with other videos)
4. DVD Shrink 3.2 (to butn it to a DVD)

This video is "The Matrix" film... i like it a lot and i was not able to find it in any store as DVD, so i downloaded it... but got several problems to be able and play it on my DVD... hehehe !!!

hi

i would just go and rent it and watch the film!

the matrix is my all time favourite!

;-])

but for dvd it has to be bigger in aspect ratio,

DVD PAL (MPEG-2 720x576 25fps) for uk

DVD NTSC (MPEG-2 720x480 29.97fps) for USA

you could try SVCD if your player allows it? thats mpeg2 playing!
