Out of the blue I started getting this error. Never had a problem before. Decrypt an Shrink worked great. DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter error out also. I use Ritek G04 media, also never been a problem. I tried updating to Nero 6.6.0.13 thinking that would fix it, but it didn't. I've been looking for an update to my firmware, but I think I have the latest version. I have a Toshiba sd-r6112 in a laptop. I have firmware version 1031 right now and thats the highest I can find. Anyone know of anything different? I've check the DMA. Thats on. Uninstalled Alcohol 120%, uninstalled nero, used their clean tool and reinstalled Nero attempted to burn at ver 6, 6.6.0.1, an 6.6.0.13 and all failed with the same error. Nero infotools says ASPI is installed, only one file is in there though, not 4 like some screen shots on here. Thats all I can think of that I've done

I've searched these forums up and down and haven't found a solution.

Here is te log of the failed burn.

Hi there,
Quote:
Recorder: TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R6112, Media type: DVD-R
Disc Manufacturer: RITEKG - 04
Is this the true ID of a Ritek G04 ?

Why am I asking, because of this:

You usually see this with bad media.
In a other message, someone said they had Taiyo Yuden TY02 but also had those weird codes, and a senior member mentioned they might be FAKE.

Are those FAKE Ritek G04 ?

Also several people said they had issues with Ritek G04, are they making cheaper quality now ?

Have you tryed a totaly different media brand and see if it makes a difference ?

I used DVDInfoPro to get this info...

Media code/Manufacturer ID RITEKG04
Format Capacity Blank Disc

is that what you needed, if not, how do I get what you need and what software do I need?

I don't think it is bad media because they work on my dvd burner at home. It is a Pioneer 104/A04. Also in DVDInfoPro I do get a media code that has some hexidecimal number in I think with Ritekg 04. I wonder why they're blank in Nero?

I have tried different media, I have Imation RW's and they also work fine. I will try simulating these two discs when I get home and see what I get. Thanks for a quick response.

here is a log from the home computer and a successful burn in an A04/104... no media code in this either. However I did find on a forum somewhere else that this usually means the media in't compatible with the burner and a generic template was used, usually fixed by upgrading your firmware. This has to be what is causing the problems...
