Iuse 1-click-copy DVd to backup DVDs on a Plextor Px 708A. I use Verbatim bulk DVD-R (4x and lately 8x) I burn at 4x and even tried at 2x.
This is the problem. My DVD copies play flawlessly on SONY dvds but not in any other I have tried (including panasonic, samsung, pioneer and others). It freezes all the time usually in the last third of the movie.
Dvd-r is more compatable with older stand alone dvd players than dvd+r but newer players will usually play both. Dvd+r booktyped dvd-rom is more compatable than both. I don't have a plextor but pretty sure in you plextools software you can booktype dvd+r/rw media to dvd-rom. Let me know if you can't figure it out and I'll get a buddy in here that has a plextor.
Have you ever tried DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink for your backups? They are both free and can be downloaded by clicking on the proggy's in blue letters. You can use DVD Decrypter to booktype to dvd-rom. Nero will do it too.
I read somewhere while searching that Plextor does not support booktype. I dont know if that is old news or not. Y would appreciate any information about how to do it, if possible. I have a Plextor708A. I use 1 click dvd copy but also have Nero.
I am assuming that your Plexie has the Plextools, just go into them and under drive settings, and advanced tab make sure the change booktype for DVD+R is checked.
