I've always used DVD Decrypter + CloneDVD2 to make a backup copy of my most cherished movies. With dual layer media becoming more available I'm thinking about backing up some of my more expensive releases to dual layer discs (ordered 10 pieces of these)

Now what is the best way to do this? I guess ripping it to hdd with dvddecrypter is a no brainer, but how do I put them on the dual layer media? Can I just burn the ripped files to the discs using Nero or do I need to use a tool like CloneDVD2 to write them to the discs?

Main concern here is not the writing itself, but making sure the layer-switch works well.

Decrypter can burn dual layer media. Rip as an ISO, then burn it back to your dvd-9

I just hope the movies will play fine on my Sony RDR-HX900 DVD recorder. Burner is a Sony-brand which was part of my new laptop (Dell Inspiron 9300).

I have new Sony standalone and mine play fine, the only standalone I had a problem with was my Samsung so I replaced it with the Sony and no problems. The disks played through with no hesitations on my other standalone, Toshiba, Panasonic DVDR, Apex, and Cyberhome, it was only the Samsung that froze.

will I need to change the dvd-booktype to dvd-rom or will my standalone play it fine with 'normal' burning? (not sure if my dvd writer support booktype changes)
