I've got converting one large movie file to dvd down, I know how to burn multiple tv shows to dvd, but now I'm having major problems with converting tons of video clips to dvd. The are all different formats, avi, mpg, asx, wmv. They all work fine on my xbox, but when I try converting them I keep getting tons of errors and mistakes.

For example, dvdsanta will convert them all, but the output is bigger than a standard dvd. All TMPGENC programs will start to encode them, then give me some stupid error and quit in the middle of processing. Divxtodvd will convert them just like dvdsanta, but the output file is too large.

What's a good program for cramming these onto dvd? Basically they are all low quality clips, so I'm trying to cram 5 or 6 hours of them onto one disk. Any suggestions?

You can compress your files that are to large with DVD Shrink. If you dont have a separate burning program, you can set DVD Shrink to create an iso image, and auto burn with DVD Decrypter.

Will dvdshrink affect the quality of the files?

Also, I know the files play fine, but is there some program that I can run these through that will check for errors and fix them before I feed them into a dvd converter program?

Also, wondering if this would work. I used to use EO Video for all my converting to VCD before getting a dvd burner. Would it screw with the quality of them if I ran them all thru that, turning every one into the same format mpg, then feed those into the dvd programs?

Asking because the TMPGEnc programs all will never finish all of the files I feed into it. It always quits halfway thru saying something is in the wrong format or unsuported or whatever.

1.Will dvdshrink effect the quality of the files?......YES all compression tools effect the quality of the video, but if the compression rate isnt too high,it usually wont be very noticeable.

2.is there some program that I can run these through that will check for errors and fix them ......NONE that im aware.

3.I used to use EO Video for all my converting to VCD before getting a dvd burner. Would it screw with the quality of them if I ran them all thru that, turning every one into the same format mpg, then feed those into the dvd programs?............YES, anytime you have to convert a video, you effect the quality.Im not familiar with that paticular program, but if your happy with VCD quality, then you can take the mpeg1's that you make for vcd, and use TMPGEnc dvd author or nero vision express etc.to convert your mpegs into dvd compliant files.

4.Asking because the TMPGEnc programs all will never finish all of the files I feed into it. It always quits halfway thru saying something is in the wrong format or unsuported or whatever........You can check your error messages with this thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/40101

good luck and happy burning
