Hi,
Can anyone please let me know if they are using anything to replace decrypter. I have had a couple of movies I tried to rip (I.e Closer, and AVP, I'm getting IO read errors. Tried using AnyDVD, along with Decrypter, also tried DVD Shrink, but no luck.
Thank's

that's funny, AnyDVD should have gotten both those movies as long as you're using the latest (5.2.2.1 or 5.3.2.1 beta).

Sounds more like a "bad disc" instead of any program problems.

BTW, DVD Decrypter hasn't "gone" anywhere. It will be useful for quite sometime and indefinitely when used in conjunction with AnyDVD.

All i can offer is latest (3.5.4.0) Decrypter will breeze thru these 2 films, as with pretty much any film out there.

I think bilbo65 has it right...sounds like a bad disc.
<1>Why am I getting I/O or CRC errors while ripping my original DVD
I/O Errors are NOT bugs!!!! (well, not 99.99999% of the time anyway)
An I/O Error is a way of displaying a problem your drive had with the disc or your system config (mainly a disc problem though). Unrecovered read errors, Seek errors, Servo errors, Focusing errors, ECC errors, CIRC Unrecovered errors etc. are all your drives way of saying "I don't like this disc". Clean the disc, update your drives firmware (http://www.rpc1.org), try it in another drive, and get another copy.

Thank's for your help, however, I have tried most everything. Wish I could give everyone copy of DVD to C if anyone can crack it. I certainly can't find a way. Here's copy of log file, just bit at the end.
Hoping!

as far as AVP, DVD Decrypter and/or AnyDVD should get that one no prob. For Closer, AnyDVD has released 5.2.4.1 that "works this time."
BTW, sorry for the mispost, I meant AnyDVD 5.2.3.1 before, not 5.3.2.1.

Hi Creaky,
Tried DVD43 along with DVDD, worked first time. Must be DVD43 that did the trick, cos was using AnyDVD and getting nowhere. Thank's for your help it's appreciated :-) I hope people manage to read this thread, but I'll post a new one for the benifit of others trying to back up CLOSER, I visited other forums and there were a few talking about region 2 English versions being troublesome.

nice one.... !
i shall recommend it more often. I just thought it's odd that i don't have problems like that and read that so many ppl do have CRC type problems. well only once in a blue moon and only when the original disc was of dubious origin or with obvious gashes in the underside of discs..

Hate to sound obvious but making sure the disk is clean is the first thing I do if decrypter chucks a spaz. Even fingerprints can cause problems sometimes if only slowing down the read speed.
Occasionally i do get a problem with a rip then i try it in another drive.
Elevator - you didnt state what version decrypter you had - you need 3.5.4.0 for some of the newer copy protections.
