I bought a DVD the other day and when I tried to make a copy for my portable computer I got "deleted sectors" or something like that. I know they are starting to do this with DVDs, "errors" and such to keep from making backup copies.
What software today overcomes this? I have tried them(major) all, I think.

also Spanglish has several files in the folder and one is labled ARccOS (upper and lower case) would this be the file indicating the copy protection using error files?

what program did you try with? I ask because DVD Decrypter will give you these errors, but will continue to rip just fine.

1Click and DVD CopyXpress. 1Click kept saying errors...... but I have not really tried Decrypter. It asks for things the one time I used it that I didn't know what it wanted me to do and then it told me there was an error in the file (not SPanglish)
I'll have to sit down and learn to use Decrypter..is there a readme file for it?
What about the file in Spanglish? I listed. common? uncommon? part of the encryption?

Spanglish has encryption that will give you errors. DVD Decrypter will get around this. It's a pretty simple program, there's guides listed in my sig that should be able to help you out plenty.

As Squizzle said use Decrypter just make sure you have the latest and last version. This is one of the few sites that still has Decrypter to download - so grab it.
Xcopy will no longer get around any new encryptions. Use the guides in Squizzle's post - I would also recommend Shrink instead of X Copy. Shrink while it can probaby handle the same encryptions as Xcopy gives you more choices to play with. You can use it in conjunction w/ Decrypter. Try it you might like it! Just my 2 cents.

I would definitely agree with binkie on shrink vs. x copy. Once you figure out how to use Shrink, it's got way more options and can produce much better video quality IMO. Check out the quality enhancements as well, that gets video even better.

I've tried ripping some movies like Spanglish and other with DVD Decrypter and I get the errors. DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 does not read these and finsih. Are there any special settings to change to make it keep reading and finish the movie? It will read the errors and keep retrying but even if left running overnight it never gets past the errors to finish the disc. I've tried setting the retry for errors to 1 and even 0 and it just keeps finding errors and never finishes.
What dvd drives are you using? Maybe some drives read them better than others.

Check my sig for ScubaPete's guide, and look in the section for hard to rip discs. There he shows you how to tweak Decrypter to perform better when ripping. If that doesn't work, there's a 21-day free trial of AnyDVD you could check out that should get you past these nasty encryptions.
