Problems copying certain discs

I have problems copying certain new movies with dvd decrypter, the most recent example is hitch, I get a message that says "Device not ready, incompatible median installed". Does this have anything to do with the new copy protect system? Can anyone help please?

The message sounds like it doesn't like the blank media you're using.
Are you running AnyDVD in the background? If not, download and install AnyDVD, and let it run in the background, and see if you still have problems. If you still have problems, check back.............. :)

I don't think that's it, I use different kinds of media, and it happens with all of them, plus I have no problems with 99% of the movies I try.

I'm getting the error when ripping, I've gotten it with titles such as Spanglish, Are We There Yet, Star Wars Episode IV, and the most recent, Hitch.

are you using the latest version of DVD Decrypter to rip (3.5.4) or the latest version of AnyDVD (5.2.4.2)? Both should allow you to get those movies, which are encrypted pretty heavily (although not too sure about the Star Wars one).

Yeah, I thought maybe that was the reason too, but when i tried the new version of DVD Decrypter, the same thing happened. It's weird also because the movie won't even play on my computer, it just doesnt recognize the disc all together.

that's weird. Do you have another DVD drive in your computer? I just recently had a DVD where my DVD-ROM just kept checking it but that was it. Took it out and put it in my burner, and VIOLA! worked like a charm.

Have been using DVD X Copy for awhile never had a problem. Until now with movies Are We There Yet? and Hitch. It gets to 61% and stops. I tried DVD Decrypter and AnyDVD running the backgound. I can it to rip. My question it what do you use to burn it and do you selet main movie+ IFO files. I burn it with Nero but will not work.

I do full disc all the time, have never done movie only + IFO so I don't know what that will get you. Are you there yet and Hitch have new encryptions that DVD X Copy will not rip alone.

I have had the same problem with trying to copy certain movies (Hitch, Spanglish, Grudge) I encounter a "black hole" in the begining of the movie. I can skip past it (about 1 minute) and the begining of the movie will start. The "1 minute black hole" lags and seems to almost error out. It's also impossible to analyse the disc and it's impossible to copy the DvD. If you try, you can usualy get to about 13% (the menues) but as soon as it hits the main movie, it freezes then errors out.
No clue for solutions, and i'll let you know if i find anything. =^)

DURRRRR!!!!!
Come to find out, they are bad secters on the disc make on purpose, and DVD Decrypter alows you to "skip" the bad secter, wich skips the "black hole". I'm so used to "skipping" being bad, talk about over thinking stuff!

rip just the movie with DDVD.
shrink with DVD Shrink and burn with DDVD or Nero.
The error is Sony copy protection..(anydvd also helps as long as you have the latest version)

Well crap.... the "black hole" is part of the main movie (vts_01_1.vob) It's the first 1 minute of the movie. I figured putting it on auto ignore the bad secters would work, but when i got home 5 hrs later it did move from 5% to 6% and have 4450 read errors. With that and I'm not sure it'll still play after burn?!?! Forget that!

Use DVD Shrink in Reauthor mode, get movie only and click the start/end frames button. Now set the start frame past the "black hole." If the movie has multiple movie titlesets, do that to all the movie titles you get in the reauthor.
The black hole was put there on purpose to do to ripping software exactly what it's doing for you.

I have copied hitch and Are we there yet. I only use decrypter and DVD Shrink..I did get an error with Ray but i think its a bad disc.
