There is a DVD to avi application out there I can't remember the name of. I had a HDD failure and had to reinstall OS.
The app converted VOB to avi without having to do all the *.dv2 and tmpcg crap. It was great for dumb lazy people like me.
I recall it let you customize the movie file size.
I also recall it came recomended with DVDdecrypter.
Can y'all please throw some app. names at me to help me remember the name.
I highly recommend you use AoA DVD Ripper (http://www.aoamedia.com). It's easy to use (no need to go hunting manually for IFO files!) for beginners, has all the configurability I need (AVI/DivX output, PAL, resolution height/width, chapter selectable, filename choice (now!) etc), quality output.
It has many good reviews on download.com.
