Hi everyone,

I have had my ps2 for a while. I have a version 4/5/6 I checked it out. I'm pretty new to this and I was thinking whether or not i could play modern backups on my ps2. I have it modified, but i don't quite know with which chip. I think it's the "No Solder Chip" because i have to insert the RegionX DVD disc and then i have to hold my power button till the Region X disc loads. Then i remove my hand from the power button and the PS2-rom opens and i can insert the backups and then press start for the game to begin playing. Now i had a lot of backups when i first bought the ps2, but the last couple of years i only play my original games, cause it's easier.

I live in the Netherlands, by the way so it's a PAL ps2

Can anyone tell me wether it is possible for me to play modern backups , like DVD backups? For instance if i rip my game: Predator : Concrete Jungle with DVD decrypter and burn the image on a rewritable DVD disc, CAN I PLAY IT WITH MY CURRENT MODCHIP?

I tried it with NBA JAM 2004, but it didn't work. Can someone tell me if i did something wrong or it just isn't possible.

THANKS in advance

You cant use DVDRW's. Use -R's. Or +r's if your PS2 is v5 or higher.

oh okay.....why is that , by the way?

and what if I completely erase everything on the disc and then write on it?

and do you think it will work with the RegionX?

Just that the Ps2 lens cant read RW's. Although I have heard that some can. However, your best just to use -R's or +R's depending on your PS2. It should work with regionX I think. Only thing you can is try.

I made an image of NBA LIVE 2004 with DVD Decrypter and I burnt it on an empty DVD +R and it didn't work. I burnt it on a Memorex disc. Does that make any difference? I also burnt it on the lowest possible speed. Damn, i'm lost here.

Memorex is awful. They will be fit for coasters and nothing else. Try using DVD-R such as Verbatim, Ritek, Fujifilm (Taiyo Yuden), Sony etc.

oh okay, thanks. I'll try another type. I read somewhere here on a thread that Memorex worked on almost any console, but apparently not.

Well I bought some SONY DVD+Rs and burned the NBA LIVE 2004 image on it and It still doesn't work with the RegionX DVD disc. Will it help if i burn an ISO of Swap Disc v.2 and burn that on a CD and use that?
I only can get the iso of v.2 of swap disc. it's 41 MB orso.

Yes there is a swap magic disk for CD based games, and one for DVD based games.

You have 24 hours to take that crap out of your sig or be banned. You need to change your sig then go back and edit every single one of your posts containing that link. I'm going to check each and every one of your posts and if I see even one that you missed you're history.

While you're at it you need to read the forum rules.

My killer sig came courtesy of bb "El Jefe" mayo.
